  1. Ubiquiti RouterStation Pro and pick whatever cards you want from them, there all good.
  2. Not sure I'd want a knife in a zombie attack, also not sure about using a revolver in an inclosed space with out hearing protection. I'd probably go for a Springfield Armory 1911 due to its trustiness and the speed increase on reload time, plus it does less damage to your hearing and something like a Spetsnaz Machete. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgfofRaccYM Got to be ready for the zombie apocalypse.
  3. UBIQUITI NANOBRIDGE M5 are like $80 bucks a piece and are good for 20km at 150Mbps. Their weatherproof too, for the money you can't really go wrong and at least you get something that works reliably.

    Defcon

I went last year, was tempted to do it this year but can't be bothered to make the 16 hour flight. Don't get me wrong I like DefCon and its a lot of fun but 16 hours in cattle class when your 6" 5' is on par with being anally intruded with a broken of broom-handle. I'll probably not go to a con until HOPE next year as I have friends in NYC, so even if there's nothing I'm interested in, or if their rehashing old information/using the same talk that they have given 8 times before, I can at least get drunk with people I don't see very much.
  5. Its worth hitting the 2600 if you're there the first friday of the month, the meeting gets better once you go for BBQ food and beers. I've been a few times while working out there and their a friendly bunch. You should also check out NYCR hacker space, as its easy to get too and its one of the better hacker spaces. China town has a bunch of cool tech shit, other then that Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum has some cool stuff and its on an old aircraft carrier. Barcade in Brooklyn is worth hitting for a few beers and some classic arcade fun.

That crap is basically my EDC, I don't hack, I just have that stuff as it fits in the bag and I'm too lazy to remove the tech crap I don't need. Ham Radio and Photography are my only real interests nowadays, I have a dslr but that thing is massive and I don't want to fuck it up.
  7. Only Skynet I know is the Linux tool for sniffing data of satellites using a Skystar2 card
  8. Experts say lots of shit, you act alarmist to sell products and services. Life is a calculated risk.
  9. The show is very much Hollywoods idea of hacking, but the pilot episode was funny and the cast likable, its basically Chuck with out the cia/nsa stuff and a little more slapstick.
  10. Lowepro Classified 250 can just about fit a 17" Mac Book Pro. Its very well made and has a shit load of room for things.
  11. My bad, I thought he was talking about the UAV talk, I didn't see that in the HHV. Those guys should have done the talk, not renderman and that west point guy.
  12. Its odd they both got accepted but I guess there was room for both.
  13. I think he missed the point in the UAV talk. The ideas they were putting out, were ideas and works in progress. What they currently use is a low cost UAV which you can build like a kit (ordering from a few places) with all the information on diydrones. What they did do was put Rendermans iPhone in the body of the UAV the night before with a war driving app running. Also the board they were looking to use was a beagleboard. The after talk discussion was funny as some guy was playing with a quadcopter in a small room and put it into the ceiling tiles. If you don't want to wait around for the DEFCON video you can watch the Shmoocon video, as the only real differences is he has strapped a model rocket under one of the wings (unguided) and you get a little video of that, you get to see a crash and they talk about future ideas which might happen. The talk was fairly funny and worth a watch when it does come out.
  14. Hak5 has always been the Darran show, featuring whoever he may be friends with at the time. I really don't see the issue, it is his intellectual property (I guess) to do with what he wishes. The show was a bit of fun and IPTV has largely died off with podcasts, I guess what REV3 offers is what the kids want nowadays and what people want to make. I'm a little older now and there is no point sweating the small stuff.
  15. Not to be funny but you know it will more than likely just be built on a newer build of Ubuntu, with an updated KDE, tools (the ones that have been updated) and drivers. There is nothing stopping you from just putting together the tools, drivers and wm, yourselves.
  16. I'd call them hackers, but it really does not matter. Also it might be illegal in the US, but contrary to what some people believe US laws do not apply to anyone outside of the US. Although they do have an extraordinary rendition program.
  17. http://www.hardkernel.com/store.php bit more money
  18. Flying Squirrel Linux looks okay if all you want are wireless tools
  19. Yeah bunch of guides out there for getting Metasploit running too. It also has host USB support. They run metasploit really badly, its so slow and buggy its barely usable.
  20. I never really got the whole ethical hacker thing, who's measuring stick are we using?
  21. When I hear "under my house" Josef Fritzl pops into my head, but good luck, a space is a space.
  22. I have no idea who those people are, I'm going to say that Salma Hayek is the more physically attractive with out even bothering to google those two people. I've never met the women so she may be a real nasty piece of work, so I could not say how overall attractive she is.
  23. Things like Acer travelmate tablets are cheap when looking at the old Centrino models. Their run XP and Linux with no issue, they make a really nice platform for things like the WiSPY.
