  1. You mean a trombone shot? It was first done in Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo then later got more recognition in Jaws. It's kinda cliche now. I believe we did one in a special feature on the DVD, just for the hell of it. Is that the shot where you walk backwards while zooming in?
  2. Well as my great uncle's cousin leroy once said... "From nonsense come invention and from invention comes LEROYYYYYY JENKINSSSSSSS!!1 because typing is hard."
  3. With great power comes great responsibility.
  4. Ok do you really have to ask me this question lol. OSX 10.4 followed by Ubuntu
  5. Main: Black MacBook running 10.4 Tiger Secondary: iBook G4 running 10.3 Panther or Live Ubuntu Coming Soon Media Center: either a used PPC MacMini running 10.4 Tiger or a older G4 tower running the same. I love me some front row. VNC Remote/Mod Project: 12" G3 Laptop runing 10.3 Panther and heavy modding. LAMP Box/Linux Hobby Box: Ubuntu or SUSE As i have said before i am a mac whore and a Linux noob :)
  6. It consumes so much of our lives so it should atleast work well. Post some shots of your IRC setup. Here is mine on my MacBook running X-Chat Aqua
  7. I don't think this is spam the dude is just asking if we know of any good sites in what looks to be the software/hardware areas. With the poll asking if we own one of these sites. www.newegg.com is a old favorite for me as i buy most of my parts there. They are fair priced with really good service. I have 3 sites of my own but i don't really sell anything. One is for my skate team, one is for my production company thing, and the last is for my new IPTV show.
  8. I was also stuck between 45 and 81 but in the end 81 won out by a small margin.
  9. Can i dump out the Os and run linux on it so i can interface with my Death To IRC toaster? Maybe even run a little VNC so i can control it over my network with my MacBook. I will not rest till i have have hacked together the ultimate internet distruction tool controled by a speak and spell.
  10. For my new show i am going to using a mix of iMove HD, Final Cut Express HD, and SnapsProX. I may also use motion down the line when i get more funds together. I am kind of a whore for apple when it comes to editing gear just because they have done it so well for so long and there consumer stuff is really hard to beat.
  11. There is a awesome new show by the ask a ninja guys called "Hope Is Emo" and it's freaking funny as hell. I am not sure who is behind all this but they should have there own show on adult swim. To me some of the ask a ninja/dogtoons crossovers have been the funniest things i have watched all year. Check out www.hopeisemo.com.
  12. Sony MDR-V150 Studio Monitor Headphones are awesome for there small 20 dollar price tag at most big box stores. I have about 4 pair of them. 1 pair i turned into a ipod shuffle head set, 1 pair for general use with iPod and computer, and 2 spares. Great sound, awesome base, and cheap.
  13. I say the biggest problem facing the homebrew game scene is the borking of hardware by the companies so they can't run homebrew code (PSP anyone). What would be ideal is if a small hardware company made a handheld machine running linux with the abilty to write flash and normal games that was cheap, easy to use, and then built a myspace/source forge like comunity around the device for geeks and hackers to gather and make cool shit. This device would be awesome for use in schools to teach programing and computers. If they were able to get the system somewhere between Gameboy SP and Nintendo DS power you could with the right groups working make some awesome 2D and Faux 3D games that would rival what Nintedo is putting out now. The hardware group could even go as far as selling bulk cards that would hold a finished game to the developers to sell box copies of there games or even easyer have the games install to the device via a PC solution like installing roms in an emulator and sell the roms like shareware. The selling would be for the guys who make the next mario or tetris so they could put it tword there next release. Just another of my hairbrained ideas i guess lol.
  14. If your looking for a nice step by step style videos on how to install WAMP i would looking into both 3dbuzz (http://3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_dl_list.php?c=6 free membership required for dl) and the new LAMP series by the dude at GIDUT (www.gidut.tv). The 3dbuzz vids are the way i learned and the comunity there are really smart and helpful. I just saw the Linux portion of the GIDUT series on LAMP and the dude really knows his stuff and how to explain it to where it's easy to pick up. The best part is everything he is using is free and open source so you could just follow along and by the time you were done you would have a hardcore LAMP Server.
  15. My G4 Laptop is now running all the time so i can VNC into it if i need to use non-universal programs like Apple Works 6. My macbook i turn off at night since the G4 also handles any downloading i need to do. It's an interesting setup i have actualy. I use my G4 to download torrents/iptv. I then use VNC to unRAR on the G4 if i need to. Then i mount the G4 harddrive and move the files over to my Macbook. Last i go back to VNC and delete the files off that machine. My 2 babies play very well together :). I will also soon be adding a macmini as a media center that will use VNC on my palm T|X as a remote control. I love me some VNC.
  16. My brand new as of yesturday Black MacBook. The second drive on the desktop is my old G4 iBook. The Hak5 wall looks hot on my black baby.
  17. I picked up a neat DVD cataloging software from that freewarepalm.com that is pretty cool. I have about a million DVDs so it will be nice to have a list of them with me all the time when i go to buy more. I may end up using the AIM client but i am not much of an IM guy. Darren have you used upIRC for the palm? It's a very useable IRC client with either a wireless keyboard or the stylus keyboard. I was testing it in the Hak5 room yesturday to great laughs by the people in there for my stylus use.
  18. Hippy, Jack of all trades, artisan, freelancer, team manager for a skate team. These are a few things i do.
  19. I just bought a Palm T|X running Palm OS 5 and i am looking for some cool free software for it. Maybe some fun open source stuff and wifi tools. I already have a IRC client, TCPMP, and PalmVNC on there and running but not a whole lot else. I am mostly looking for a good non adobe pdf reader, games, and whatever else you guys can come up with.
  20. urgh. just one more thing to prove the world is sinking into the void.
  21. No what i ment that they would pick up the shipping charge of $5 or so dollars as a gift to send it to you. Well forget the idea of mailing it from here because it would end up costing you about the same as it would buying it normaly. You may want to give jinxs a ring as see if they will send you a shirt Global Priority Mail which costs $4.25 from the US for an item under 4lbs. Not sure if they would do this but it's worth a shot and would save you 5 bucks on shipping.
  22. i think it's called a profit margin. I never have had problems myself with a windows box because i lock it down with software to keep nastyness out but nothing is full proof. This is why i like Macs and Linux so much. Sure something could happen but by default they are more secure. Most of my family has made the switch to mac thanks in part to me but also they just got sick of running 700 progs just to keep there stuff clean and safe. My aunt is the best example i have of a unknowing user of computers. Her only goal is to use ebay and e-mail. Her former windows box had 49 trojan horses and enough spyway to fund a small country! i was very surprised not to find things like My Doom and Sasser because she was running right from the cable internet into her PC with 0 firewall and zero antivirus. The only firewall enabled was the windows one. I sold the machine on ebay for her and bought her a used mac mini. She has had zero problems since. I live in a small town with a lot of my family members in the same town so i am the default computer guy. Everyone i have switched to a mac love it and find zero issues finding the software they need also thanks to me but hey it works for them. There is one big windows machine in the family though that i built for my cousin as his game rig. I locked it down and taught him how to run everything he needs and so far he has been ok but that rig is my big tech support target since i get the most calls from him needing help. To me and this is my opinion if your not playing games than you should be using a Mac or Linux box.
  23. The floor in men's room at a gas station? :)
  24. Do you know anyone here in the states that could buy it and then send it to you as a gift for free shipping? This could work to make shipping less as well since the person could send it standard international shipping which as an example from amazon would be about $4.00-$6.00 US. It can take between 9-36 days but it might be cheaper for ya. Normal charge would be $25.40 for the shirt and shipping to London, England though jinx. I am guessing with my route it would save you about 5 bucks in shipping charges.
  25. Who do you have a crush on and why. Mine are pretty simple. Linda Cardellini: Freaks and Geeks and then playing one of favorite charectars of all time Velma in the scooby doo movies. She just has that really cool look about her espesialy in the eyes and smile. I don't care if she's 7 years older than me she is still cool :) Eliza Dushku: Amazing looking girl and a dang fine actress to boot. I love her abilty to not take herself to seriously in movies which can be seen in Jay and Silent Bob but better in The New Guy. Last but not least Mila Kunis: Yup that's right i like Meg Griffin lol. I am a huge 70's show fan and she was a major reason why.
