  1. Expense I know, I rather use Ophcrack and rainbow tables, still does a good job.
  2. American Laws never cease to amaze me. Really good stuff, thanks for sharing. Now I have a compelling reason to encrypt my drive.
  3. You are not a spammer afterwards.
  4. Hi, One more password cracker to include in your hacker's tool box. L0phtCrack is a password auditing and recovery application (now called L0phtCrack 6) originally produced by Mudge from L0pht Heavy Industries. It is used to test password strength and sometimes to recover lost Microsoft Windows passwords, by using dictionary, brute-force, hybrid attacks, and rainbow tables.[1] It was one of the crackers' tools of choice, although most use old versions because of its low price and availability. http://www.l0phtcrack.com/learn.html
  5. Its an idea, but in order to extend the range to say several KMs you could use a wireless turbo modem, instead of a wireless router which has limited range. And if you want to prolong the run time, you could install solar panels onto the vehicle roof itself. I am thinking on embarking on a similar project myself, but instead use a RC Airplane that can also be flown from over the internet, this one I think will be a lot more challenging to do, since it will have GPS capabilities and other features I hope to implement.
  6. If you don't want to get caught or expelled use your own internet. Or if you want to cover your internet tracks, use someone else's account. I know its illegal and will get you into trouble, I used to do that all the time in High school.
  7. I had a similar experience, when reinstalling the windows for a friend of mine on his laptop. In the beginning I was going to install windows XP, but the set up could not detect any HDDs. When I booted off the machine, with a Windows 7 CD, the set up was able to see the HDD and its partitions. For me I think, it has something to do with the controller drivers. Try downloading the drives from the HP website and installing them at the set up.
  8. Is the HDD being recognized in the bios? What motherboard do you have? I ran into this before when I was trying to install Windows on a dynamic volume. Make sure you are only using one controller at the time, this can be adjusted in the BIOS.
  9. Its a shame to be honest, the ISPs in here only thinks of making money. While they offer a shit service.
  10. So you have hit 200gb and the ISP hasn't slowed you down? That's why I am so unlucky and angry with the ISPs here in this fucking country.
  11. I'd love to own that kind of upload speed.
  12. And that's where a distributed system comes in hand, to reduce that time it takes to crack the hash.
  13. There is nothing complex about understanding how rainbow table works, it's not alien technology my friend. Its a simple concept that involves, cracking hashes on a more efficient manner. As opposed to the traditional brute forcing method, that uses your computer CPU power to crack the password hash. Rainbow crack uses a combination of CPU power and Memory trade off to accelerate the cracking process. But before rainbow crack can be used, rainbow tables are required to be generated and that's where a distributed rainbow table system comes in. Since it requires a lot of processing power, storage and time to create these massive tables, a single computer would take a very long time to generate these tables, if you can combine the power of more than one PC together, like in a cluster environment the time needed to generate these tables would be greatly reduced. Now on a side note, if you want to have a good success rate when cracking passwords, lots of storage capacity will required for this project to take off.
  14. I think you will have to design some kind of web interface, where it can interact with a backend (database) and from there users will be able to sign up and use their own sign-in accounts in order to access internet. Also you will need a Radius server, that will do all the users authentication before anyone is allowed to surf the net. I did some research in Google and found some useful links that could help you get started. http://www.google.com.au/#sclient=psy&...370bdd54c3facee

You are funny, but what you are saying is true. I think we should take the technology more towards the ignorant and blatantly stupid people, they don't know the benefits they are missing. You can only gain and not lose from technology.
  16. Numbers coming after the name of a person, doesn't always mean its spam. It could be that, during his sign up process, his name was not available in the system or already taken by another user. So he might have decided to create a profile name with some numbers at the end or the system provided him with some suggestions, on what to call his account name. That's my theory by the way.
  17. Will take a look into those suggested tools. Thank you very much
  18. Hi, I would like to know, if when using Wireshark for analysing network traffic, does any one use any third party utility to make their job easier, when reviewing the traffic results. Or do you create custom filters within wireshark, to filter out a particular traffic. Thank you. Regards, Infiltrator
  19. This is a shame for the Australia's national broadband, we get an average speeds of 2.5 or less. And look at UK, I wished I lived there.
  20. Liverpool has the fastest average broadband speeds in the UK, says Broadband Expert. Research by the broadand comparison site, which was conducted during March and August this year, revealed that on average Liverpudlians can access net connection speeds of around 7.72Mbps. Liverpool was closely followed by Cleveland, where speeds average 7.51Mbps and Croydon with 7.44Mbps. Meanwhile, Dumfries in Scotland was named the area in the UK with the lowest average broadband speed, at just 2.89Mbps It was closely followed by Galashiels with 3.22Mbps and Shrewsbury, where residents receive an average speed of 3.46Mbps. "We're all becoming more reliant on the internet for work and leisure and it's frustrating for those who receive inadequate broadband speeds," said Rob Webber, commercial director at Broadband Expert. "In our opinion, the Government's pledge to make superfast broadband available in the majority of homes and businesses by 2017 cannot come soon enough and I'm sure residents and workers from the areas at the bottom of the table will also agree." 21. That should not be a problem for you I've used DynDNS in the past with different classes and range of ip addresses. How are you setting up DynDNS on your system? With a client software, or manually on the router itself?
  22. I've never been to a conferencing before, I always wanted to attend one, but I don't live in America.

I think your school network switch, must somehow be filtering ARP poisoning. So performing these attacks on your school network is not going be very effective. You must somehow gain root access to the switches, if you want this attack to work, which in my opinion will be illegal if you try, and may run the risk of being expelled.
  24. I like the idea, I think someone should design a web-interface where you login with your Hak5 account and once logged in, the user can submit his/her hashes for cracking, as well we can keep track of what hashes that user submitted for legality purposes. Furthermore, as you stated not everyone should be able to use the system, they must meet a certain amount of post numbers before they are allowed to use the service.
