  1. Even Googling "bypassing deep nine" gives several pages of information.
  2. You are my hero. Back in my day, we didn't even have wifi in my HS classrooms. Kids these days.
  3. I am pretty sure that selling access to your wifi is against the TOS for your internet provider.
  4. I would rather much prefer a Battlefront 3...
  5. In 10.04, they renamed that to Monitors. That confused me at first. But yes, that works properly, as does 'xrandr' when you supply it with parameters. But it seems when xrandr goes to query to see what devices are attached, it actually ends up setting a resolution.
  6. Well I have tried this question over at ubuntuforums, however it has not gotten any responses. Has anyone been using Lucid Lynx and noticed something weird when running xrandr without parameters? I posted a youtube video of what occurs when I run it: I used the following line to activate my external monitor and disable my internal one: 'xrandr --output VGA1 --auto --output LVDS1 --off' Then, if I run 'xrandr' without any other parameters, it activates my internal screen (LVDS), makes that the primary monitor, and sets my external display to be an extended desktop. I also had this problem in Karmic, but it wasnt as bad. See, the same thing occurs if I run 'totem,' 'compiz --replace,' or 'wine,' which makes absolutely no sense. And there's nothing out of the ordinary in the Xorg log. Can anyone offer insight of what could be causing this?
  7. I just received my Instant Streaming disc for the Wii and went to go try it out, except I am being forced to do a software update. I haven't updated in over a year due to the alleged bricking due to the homebrew channel. Has anyone with the homebrew channel upgraded their Wii's software to use the Instant Streaming disc? I dont want to brick or lose the Homebrew channel.
  8. I bought my elite in 2007. I was hoping by then the RROD's were over. But mine crashed. Didn't get the RROD specifically, but some weird graphical issues. Got a refurbrished box back. It seems a bit louder than my original one though. But so far so good...been 8 months on this replacement one...
  9. You have residential internet, correct? Most ISP's do not allow you to sublet your connection. Mine only allows you to share it with 5 other computers (not like they would be able to check anyway). There are no business plans you could sign up for?
  10. http://www.cppreference.com/wiki/ That was always useful for me in college. I havent really been to the site in the last 2 years though.
  11. Damn, I dont even get PMs from spammers. :(
  12. Oh right. Whoops, typo.
  13. I juist got the Tour 9630 last week (the Tour2 9650 is coming out soon..kinda pissed about that since it has wifi), and I think its a pretty good phone. I had the Curve 8330 before that, and it was a really solid phone. I could throw it across the room and it woulnt even be scratched (warning: YMMV). Battery has been somewhat disappointing so far though, and the phone does not vibrate that hard. The camera is top notch; it takes really good closeup macro pictures. I am a big fan of Blackberries, and would recommend them to anyone.
  14. A little off topic, but what web browser are you using? Links2 has been my favorite, but doesn't do javascript. Elinks doesn't have a graphics mode so doesn't show images. Dillo is ok. Everything else that I have used is not lightweight enough.
  15. I agree with the other posters. Reformatting the drive to NTFS or ext2. Splitting a 70 gig file like that will be time consuming
  16. I cannot find a .deb for Opera thats compiled for ARM (not in repositories). Itll take forever to compile on the zipit, and I really dont want to cross-compile. As for Lobo, the device doesnt come with Java, and I dont think it is in the repositories either. :-(
  17. Note of caution: if you decide to flash your router with the Tomato firmware, make sure you are connected to the router via ethernet. I made the mistake of updating my firmware (from an older version of tomato to the latest) over wifi. Well my connection dropped midway through and my router was semi-bricked for an hour. I got lucky and was able to resuscitat.
  18. I think my device came with the wpa_supplicant installed already. I cannot remember for sure though. Type wpa_cli --help and see if anything comes up. If you get a help page, well then it is already installed. If not, just change your AP to WEP and login, do an apt-get install wpa_supplicant, then change your AP back to WPA.
  19. So you have internet at home, correct? Well heres one thing that you can do: If you have a router that is supported by Tomato firmware, install that on the home router. You can then ssh into the router directly and forward ports that way. This is how I forward my traffic while on unsecured APs. Of course, this is assuming your parents would allow you to do this. If your ISP blocks port 22, just use another port. I actually use a non-standard port to ssh into my router. Also, ensure that you disable telnet. And change your default admin password (duh).
  20. I am connected to a WPA AP right now on my Zipit. You do realize that you cannot connect to a WPA/WPA2 AP with the iwconfig line that was given to you before, right? You must use wpa_supplicant for that.
