  1. I still haven't got the wifi up and going on the EEE PC 1005ha. If anybody has any pointers, I have my ears open. I haven't exactly had time to try though.
  2. I have a 1005ha and love it. I triboot windows 7, ubuntu, and BT4. It depends on what you want to do with it. Netbooks are good for web browsing, email, and RDP/SSH sessions. Anything beyond that is pushing it. Great battery life and portability.
  3. First try system restore, then do a scan. When I was consulting, we used malwarebytes heavily. For the really bad ones, combofix. If you can't even boot into windows, use the ultimate boot cd for windows to scan it. If all else fails, backup, reformat, and reinstall.
  4. Oh, I forgot, velcro tape is good for keeping cables tidy. Also fish tape/rods if you're pulling cable.
  5. Here's what I carry (not just networking, but PC/server support): -Netbook for troubleshooting. -Network cable, crimper, punchdown, cable ends and jacks -Cable tester -Cable toner (especially if they're bad at labeling) -Cable labeler -Screwdrivers -Canned air Keeps these handy in the car: -Replacement switches (these go bad all the time in businesses) -Home router -Premade patch cables -Console cable -Various boot disks -Network cards
  6. Here's my thoughts: 1. No multitasking - Seriously Apple, the little droid in my pocket can multitask... 2. eBook fail - Too late to the market with this. Too many kindles and others out there. 3. No OSX - means not a true tablet. tablets have been running full OSes for a long time. 4. No camera - theyre so cheap to implement. why not? 5. No flash - might have some problems viewing web pages without this. I think it will fail. I won't buy one. Kindles are cheaper and I have a netbook.
  7. I've seen this. Hilarious and true!
  8. Vako beat me to it. I was going to recommend pfsense as it sounds like you're in a home environment.
  9. Great list DemonKnight. I'll add a few that I like: AppAlarm - Great for waking up to Pandora. I use the paid version. Lookout - Backup/antivirus for your phone. Shazam - Listens to your surroundings and will tell you the song that's playing. Pandora - Internet radio Abduction - Fun little game. Daily Dilbert - For your Dilbert needs. DroidLight - Gotta have this one. Uses camera LED as flashlight. RingDroid - Not sure if this is installed by default or not. Used for ringtones. Seesmic - Twitter client. FxCamera - Different camera effects.
  10. I'd buy em. Better than weeks of torrenting and I'd be supporting a good cause.
  11. Pentium 2....latest Ubuntu is out of the question. Try those small distros. As lopez recommends Puppy. I think theres another one called Damn Small Linux or something like that. I can't say I've used either of those. FreeBSD is pretty cumbersome in my opinion.
  12. Also check out backup exec system recovery desktop edition. I've used BESR on servers and it works great. I believe it comes with a boot disk you can use for recovery.

  15. Hate to see you go buddy! Your segments were good and full of good information. Best of luck to you!
  16. Yeah, in windows, if you open a command prompt, and type telnet 192.168.1.1 22 (or any other port you want to test connectivity to. e.g. 9100 for printers, 80 for http, etc) Note that in windows vista you have to enable telnet. If you get a response, you're good. No response, you're not talking on that port. If no response, check cabling, you IP address on your computer. Make sure you're not having any IP addressing problems. Lastly, when all else fails, flash again. It took a couple of times for me to get mine working. I thought I had it flashed right, until I read that you had to flash the kernel and rootfs (duh). I had forgot to flash the kernel...which is very important. The flash will finish when the window closes. I'm a newb, but I'm learning. Hope this helps.
  17. Yeah, try the flash again. That seemed to help for me.
  18. Hey guys, Does anybody know if this is possible with this phone? It'd be sweet if I could deauth with my phone and have the victims reauth to my Jasager. I'm guessing the built in Wifi in the phone would have to support mad wifi drivers, but I'm not finding any documentation on what chipset this thing runs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx, Subl1m1nal
  19. Disregard guys! Darren's picture was kinda confusing me, it thought the flashing was done when it said "your ip address is 192.168.blah.blah". The flashing is complete when the flashing app closes. You'll see a log that sends the kernel and stuff over and flash it. Sorry I was quick to post! I thought I bricked it and panicked!!! Thanks, Subl1m1nal
  20. Hey guys, This is my first time posting on the board. I got to watching the Jasager pineapple and had to try it. I ordered one, and it got shipped to me today! Anywho, I'm chuggin along and I got to step 12 (a simple telnet) and I can't get in to the little booger. I couldn't get an IP from the Fon, so I manually assigned myself 192.168.1.2, and still no luck! Do I now have a $40 paperweight? I hope I didn't brick it! Any help here would be much appreciated! Thanks, Subl1m1nal
