Why would we do that? As long as it works, you shouldn't be concerned about that :) . Everyone has their preference when it comes to OS. I find Linux a bit more fun/functional for my main home OS.
Yeah, I know I could do that. I also know that I spent $300 on that POFS box, which has RRoD 3 times, and that I shouldn't have to fix something they chose not to support. (i don't care if they manufactured those adapters before wpa2 became standard or not)

Yes, I know it's not "OMG THE BEST IN THE WORLD" type of shit, but it's still pretty nice, IMO.
Curious what others think...
MPC (the company that is Gateway) just declared bankruptcy in the past couple of months, so I thought. I'd be very hesitant to buy one of their computers due to the uncertainty of getting warranty service/replacement parts in the future though. Just something to think about..

If you're too lazy to check out the URL above, just try reinstalling SF, and make sure you've updated to the latest v1.41 patch that's out. I haven't run into that specific problem, but I've had lots of funny errors from BF2, especially if using Vista. Strange things happen with this games installation, which usually can be fixed by a simple registry edits. Let me know if that at least resolves your problem..
