  1. http://community.smoothwall.org/forum/view...=275305#p275305 This details how to manually back-up and restore w/o floppy's. May want to give it a shot.
  2. ok so I disabled DHCP and it seems to work fine on my Ethernet from the wall so I just need to test at the shop now. Hopefully all goes well. Thank you.
  3. ok, let me find the power cable real quick to this thing and see what I can do with that.
  4. Hello everyone, I would like a little help in figuring out if I can use this old Motorola SBG900 Cable Modem/Wireless router as a Wireless Only router on a DSL connection. So my dad opened up a comic book shop and we are (supposed) to be getting Verizon DSL in the shop any day now. They sent us a simple DSL router for it (which I am researching how they work now) and was wondering if there was ANY way to get this old SBG900 that we used to use in our house to work as a Wireless router only on the DSL connection. If not what is a good DSL router with wireless on it? or which company should I be looking at for a good one? Another question, which is superior DSL or Cable? By superior I am looking at more stable. Thank you for at least reading this far.
  5. Why don't you do the same thing with your oven? I saw this show on Discovery Channel where people are experimenting with this stuff. The Oven can be controlled remotely, and if there is food in it then that will auto-cook. Also, the refrigerator will automatically know what is in it and how much, ect. All kinds of cool stuff dealing with an automated home.

    Learning C/C++

    So, is it good to know C before learning C++?
  8. I would like to know what are some good books and/or Internet sites to learn C and C++ Programming from. I am trying to learn the C++ mainly but have searched around and seen that it helps to learn C++ if you already know C; that is the only reason I am even interested in C. I would also like to know good programs to program in. I will be mainly using CodeBlocks or Notepad++ but would like to know what other programs are good to program with. I will be programming in both Linux (Ubuntu) and Windows environments. Thank you for all the help in advance.

    Vista guidance

    Steady-State does work with Vista so I suggest playing around with that a bit, so you can set exact time limits for them to be on. Use it with the controls from the Control Panel and it is a powerful tool combination. Just make sure they are a non-administrator account and your account is password protected. That way when the UAC pop's up they need you to type in your password for them to do anything.
  10. Simply back-up your data before that point and re-install the OS that you were using before. If you do not then you can only recover your data by using a LiveCD since you will be unable to boot the OS. At least that is what it seems like from what they keep saying in the Q&A. Quote from site: The Windows 7 Beta will stop working on August 1, 2009. To continue using your PC, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before the expiration date. See Installing the Windows 7 Beta. Your feedback and our continued progress will determine when the final version of Windows 7 becomes available. Here is the link, It seems really clean to me. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/beta-faq.aspx
  11. Mine did the same thing but months ago, I have already torn it open and put it into a microwave for fun. trust me... Microwaving a Bricked Zune is fun, and you can do it at home! just make sure you have a fire extinguisher.
  12. Just save the themes to your desktop and then Right click on your desktop and choose "Change Background" then go to the themes tab and click Install. Select your theme from the desktop in the browser that comes up and click Open or Install and if it is a proper theme it installs and should automatically switch to it. That is how I do it and the way I remember, I just uninstalled it to install The Win7 beta I am using now.

    When I do this it says my IP is not in the right Subnet, I would like to know how to figure out what is the right IP for my Subnet.

    IP and Subnet

    By custom I am configuring my IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. I am going to my LAN properties and configuring them though that. I am not sure how you mean by Network setup. I have an SBG900 router. I am simply trying to change my IP Address just to know how to do it and no other reason mainly. I am just trying to test stuff and see how things are done. I mainly google these things but on this I simply could not find out how.
