  1. private hak5 network would be a great idea if we can get enough people in on it. file sharing would be easy. plus the it would have the ability for console lan party's too. there are a lot of possibilities for it.

  6. Learnaseyego i gota say ive been there before (not exactly but close enough). i think everyone has been in one of those situations. glad that you made it back to hak5 safely though. one word of advice though never leave the safety of your computer with out being armed to the teeth lol. and as for all the flaming that ive seen recently i only have one thing to say... i know we don't all live in america but as hackers / information addicts i think we should all be able to agree that freedom of speech is the most important thing there is.
  7. well technically the internet is just a giant network of computers. so who ever owns the network hardware would own the internet (so that would be a million different companies). the whole thing is, before the internet became all about dsl and cable there was dial up and before that it was just people with phone lines hooked into a computer that people dialed the number and connected to 1 computer at a time (so back then it was all run on the phone network so the phone co would have owned the internet.. but that was kinda before the internet existed). so technically if you wanted to host a free server all you would have to do is get a phone line for it but that still isnt free technically.. there are different services like http://www.dyndns.com/services/dns/dyndns/ which will work but isnt considered professional. but you still have to pay for internet service from a service provider then you have the bandwidth limit issues.
  8. i think this would be what your looking for SCSI Cable, LVD, two drop to 5.25 bays (Models 1RY, 2RY, 11Y, 21Y) 37L0149 here is a list of every part for the system in case thats not the right part. http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/sup...randind=5000008 good luck and dont get in trouble. ;)

  10. sweet ive been looking for something like this. thanks.
  11. gcc is deffinatly the best compiler and i would have to say bloodshed's dev-c++ is the best IDE for windows. its very comfortable to use plus its free. there are also many links to libraries on the site and lots of information.
  12. i found this the other night. its called project wonderland its in beta stages and is developed by sun microsystems best of all it is open source. link to the project site http://lg3d-wonderland.dev.java.net/ it is developed using project darkstar link to darkstart http://www.projectdarkstar.com/ the basic idea is a 3d meeting room/chat room. now its not like this hasn't been done before but the difference is with this project you can create your own servers and its relatively easy to create your own world. now as far as i know the customization with this is limitless. and as of the other night there are no functioning servers on the net. now when you install it it comes with a server (full of adds and such) that runs on your system, that you connect to to get a basic fell for it. ive had lots of ideas of what we could do with it if anyone is interested.
  13. the way i see all this is that no one will ever completely agree and the show needs something for everyone, which it obviously has other wise there wouldn't be this many people that care about it. anyone that watches a tv show for more then a year can tell you that change is necessary. ive been watching hak5 sense the end of season 1 and yes it did have more information in it which was great (granted i would have to watch an episode 2 or 3 times to catch everything). but honestly i like the way that the show has evolved and i love what it has become. i think it is great that the show has added the element of entertainment i love the drinking and the whole attitude of the show. honestly i dont care if the show gets longer thats not something that bothers me, because i know that in order to fit everything in sometimes it adds length to the show and i dont want to see the show sacrifice any aspect of its self to fit into a time constraint. and lastly when i feel that the show is not teaching me or putting out enough information or what ever i plan on asking to see what i can do to add my knowledge to the show in the same way the show has added to mine.

  19. the sad thing is there are still no jobs here... lol
  20. personally i think if you are dumb/uneducated enough to use your private account you shouldn't be doing things like that and if you do well you deserve to get busted (if it wasn't by you it would have been the IT bearing they aren't completely incompetent ). i also think its totally wrong to bust some one, but from what i read it looks kinda like you didn't have a choice (i.e. the over head projector). now about him copying your files, im more of a get even kinda guy, you had his email and pass.... use your imagination for the rest, its part of being a hacker. but what im curious about is what were his/her reasons for "trying" to own the teachers system?? ps. all the arguing that's going on in here, i thought was hilarious... stupid people are fun to laugh at.
