Very true!! Av's will havte get updated on definitions but like digip but like digip also said check ubcd and try googling how to make your own, that way you can make an uptodate cd that you can boot into with an av that got reasonable up to date definitions

Ok so im stuck lol...i need to remove packages from my xubuntu linux but i dont know what packages are essential for linux to run correctly for example im guessing xserver-xorg shouldnt be removed or acpi which is probably package for support for acpi, or important commands like sudo, or other important things like iptables. So what exactly are ALL the things that i have to keep in ubuntu??? In other words i just want to sit with the kernel and other important packages,i dont need games or a gui etc. The reason im asking is so that i can remove all things that are not really needed including the xfce interface and put fluxbox instead PLEASE MAKE A LIST OF 'ALL' ESSENTIALS needed for a linux **Dont worry of telling me step by step on remastering the cd coz i know how to already and im at the stage of removing packages**

i once needed to use the internet to download some programs but the only computer that had internet was one of the people that where doing accounts and obviously they weren't about to lend me their computer so i just walked in firmly telling them that i was sent by the ceo to check out the computer because he was afraid that the computer might be infected with virii and malicious content and that all information for accounts could easily be stolen like that, so i was sent to clear the system and make sure everything will be ok, further saying if you dont believe me then go ask the ceo (knowing that the this person wont go ask,but just to give me more credibility), then i said ill need some space and about half an hour :D then when i was done i said everything will be ok but i may need to come back in the future to see if everything is ok, that way i have a door open if i need to use the internet again :D

or you could just use a browser like opera and the open cache and press ctrl+f and type the name of the site and scroll thtrough till you find the swf and then right click and save to...:D thats how i save swf or flash files

Thats a matter of opinion, i personaly dont like Vista so i stick to my linux, i can get way more done on it and at a faster pace. Like i said its just opinion if you want to move to Vista then go ahead,thats not to say Vista cant get infected too

I dont use myspace but i do use facebook, and well i use it for the same reasons you mentioned, well accept for the adding bands reason lol... But i must admit that sites like that take up alot of your time, thats why i try not to go on as often.

I tried googling this but couldnt find what i was looking for, maybe im asking the question wrong lol,maybe its a bit of a dumb question...Anyways, lets say i set up a proxy so that friends, family can connect to my proxy over the internet, but then all the informations/data that passes my proxy,i can log it. Like what sites have been visited,by who, whats been downloaded, passwords of any site,usernames,messages etc. Im sure its possible but how would i go about logging all this??

lol this post cracked me up, all you had to do was use gparted by booting into a live cd of linux like ubuntu 8.x and from there go to the partition tool and delete all the usb partitions and create a new one and format it... or you could have done this in windows with partion magic... :lol:

maybe you should take all the services that you have running and just do a little research on how to exploit the services, that way when someone does decide to show you step by step then you will be able to understand it more clearly and that way youll know why and how to patch up your system...Well thats just a thought, use it, dont use, the choice is yours

ok now i think i havte step in.... Some virii dont need that autorun fr them to launch from the usb. Ive seen virii that infect the computer just by the user opening a folder in the usb. And once i seen a computer get infected with out any user interaction but maybe its the type of usb they used
