Disappointed with Tactical

#!pntstr

Recommended Posts

Granted I'm a newbie on way to get a bachelor degree in Information System Security and Cloud computing. A friend of mine recommended to get a WiFi Pineapple for my pen testing toolkit. I decided to go with the tactical and I am very disappointed with the issue/bug of not connecting to the Management AP after a while. I have tried to reflash, use Linux, Mac OS, Windows, iOS and nothing. I always get wrong password. I have tried a short and long ssid and passwords and nothing. I can definitely connect using the usb cable to an Android device or Linux virtual machine, but that defeat the intended purpose of the tactical design. If I knew, I rather save my $$$, and buy just the nano.

try a reset and see if that helps.  This issue has been common with some people but not others so its hard to track it as a bug.

Thanks I have tried that too

I use to have minor issues but after digging around on here I had found that doing this had helped.
Insert a MicroSD Card,(I use a 4GB), format it and seti to be used by the Pineapple(You can do this under the Advances setting on the Web Interface, then reset it(Either the buttuon or the option under the COnfiguration page https://wifipineapple.github.io/wifipineapple-wiki//#!troubleshooting.md).

After it reset and reboots I noticed I was able to connect to the Management AP, as well as the PineAP SSID's and such easier.

Hey peterjamesbenson,

I am really sorry to hear you’re not enjoying your WiFi Pineapple NANO. Please generate a debug.log from the Help module and attach it to a forum post here (Strip any sensitive data from the log) and detail what software you use or what tasks you perform on the device before the freeze up happens.

The Nano does not freeze, is just that when I try to use the Management AP over wifi with any device(iPhone, Android, Mac or Windows pc) keeps saying wrong password and the only way to use it is with cable tethering and that only work with android or pc.

BTW I just realized that I create 2 forum users peterjamesbenson and #!pntstr I will keep using the last one, sorry.
