silver-moonshine Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 Hey guys I made a Huge error , I was trying too up the battery pack I use for my pineapple so I went out and got a 12v Lead acid Battery I may have made a mistake i think i may have switched the + and the - , I have checked the previous posts regarding this , but i think as i plugged it in quick, saw big sparks , yanked it out, i know someone else has blown the FP6118 but i blew the L18 component on the board , and have no idea what to replace it with or where too start , does anyone know which component this is , i am quite confident in soldering and have all the tools to do so , but i have no idea what component it is , can anyone help? http://s15.postimg.org/mafyvp4cn/DSC_0032.jpg http://s15.postimg.org/qh0tb13yf/DSC_0031.jpg http://s15.postimg.org/p0pasw11j/DSC_0030.jpg as i said the component is labeled L18 (in the top right hand corner). i think it may be some form of power re-stricter / limiter to save anything else getting blown. Foxtrot Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 It would help alot if you had taken better photos, Maybe ones zoomed in on the parts you blew up lol Quote
Mr-Protocol Posted August 26, 2013 Posted August 26, 2013 I would just buy another Hornet-UB PCB. Hard telling what other components failed that don't show physical damage. Quote
silver-moonshine Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 (edited) sorry for the low quality pix , *note to all , never upload to postimg unless you teeny weeny little images , https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/108853575/Pineapple/DSC_0031.JPG https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/108853575/Pineapple/DSC_0030.JPG http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/108853575/Pineapple/DSC_0032.JPG Edited August 27, 2013 by silver-moonshine Quote
silver-moonshine Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Side note*Mr protocol, I looked at replacement Hornet boards last night , am I right in assuming that these boards would come with no firmware on at all ,(would i have to dump the firmware on there via serial?)or do you recon it would come with alfa firmware where i could "update" to pineapple? Foxtrot Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 If I remember correctly, the Hornet-UB board only has a bootloader. So you would need to obtain a USB to UART Serial Adaptor, and just follow the Clean Flash Guide on the Wiki, In my Signature. Good Luck Quote
Mr-Protocol Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 I think they may now come with an alfa firmware. Quote
silver-moonshine Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 cool well , i think my best option then would be for a new board , theyre fairly cheap , thanks guys :) Quote
Darren Kitchen Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Tried to look up your order and see if we could send you a new board but I'm not finding anything from your d***gmail address. Hit us up. Nevermind, found your Ice W*** address. Board on it's way to Manchester now. It should be blank so you can either serial flash it or if you need to recover stuff off your existing board and are so adventurous, try to swap out the power regulator that's likely blown. Quote
