d1000
Hi guys,A few weeks after receive my MK4 I'm frustrated with so many usb issues. I'm actually not an expert in Linux environment but I honestly don't know what else I need to do in just a simple scenario with a pineapple + 32 Gb microsd with USB adapter + USB HUB + 3g PEN + Alfa working.3G Pen alone work fine. If I try to use it with microsd inside, I never could mount two partitions like Darrens topic explain. I thought it could be a faulty microsd, so I bought a new 32GB microSD + usb adapter. Now it’s also very unstable even ALONE in the pineapple USB port. Then also try 16GB pen directly in pineapple, even worst, not even blink or detected. A NEW PEN. Also tried with SG, SG0,SG1, SDB, SDB1, SDB2, SDA, SDA1, SDA2. How can I say? HELP ? My best configuration, mount the 32Gb microsd with usb adapter in a single partition, appeared in resources tab, when I start the infusion installation using usb storage, stopped and dissapear again. Now when I remove and plug, appear a error in system log. See above please. Every time I use it in ubuntu, next to have problems in pinapple, the partitions could not be mount anymore. I then start from the beginning. Darren's topic. TylerCPU
Is this a powered usb hub? The pineapple does not have enough power to power a usb hub with many things on it.

d1000
Hi, my USB hub is not powered, but I've tried the 16 USB alone (not 3g) and and also 32microsd+usb adapter and same problem. Also tried usb only + anker set to 12v. I see so many people with usb problems in fórum. Could this be a design flaw? Firmware? Newbies? Thanks
traffic
from my time with openwrt it comes down to this: if you are using a powered hub and something that is going to draw a decent amount of power you will want to power that hub from a reliable usb power source such as a name brand usb charger and not some china knock off. if there is "sag" or too much noise in the power source the device will have issues. I have had great results using sandisk cruzer fit drives plugged directly into the pineapple as well as other openwrt devices. I think the majority of "usb issues" here are from people expecting plug and play operability. these are openwrt devices so just learn up on openwrt and understand how your device is working as well as how it mounts drives and handles devices, instead of just blindly guessing and hoping someone on the forums guesses your setup and issue exactly right. openwrt has a huge community and is fairly similar to your run of the mill linux distro. RChadwick
Are you powering the Pineapple with the USB cable, or with the Wall adapter?
d1000
In my first tests i've tried wall socket, christmas bundle battery and anker at 9 and 12v. Now you remembered me that i didn't test with new pen and new microsd alone powered wall. Will try again and post new and updated errors. I hope my fun can begin in no time... :)
barry99705
USB only supplies 500 miliamps of power on the pineapple. You're trying to draw too much. Use a powered hub, or a smaller thumb drive.

Use a powered hub, or a smaller thumb drive. Already tried with a very small usb adapter with microsd. But yes can even then be a power issue. I saw so many in this forum already. Will buy a powered hub. Now, anyone recommend me a portable and small powered hub than can be juiced with Anker® Astro3E 10000mAh? Thxs folks. Sebkinne
I have to agree with some people here: OpenWRT is an OS that has a few downsides but many many more upsides. We like it a lot. If your devices start shutting down it is most likely a power issue, so a powered hub should fix your issues. The stability of USB has greatly improved in 2.7.1+, so if you are still having issues, make sure to upgrade when 2.8.0 (stable) is out. You never stated what firmware version you are on. Before you buy a hub, I would upgrade to 2.7.3. While it is not marked as stable, it pretty much is. Modules DO NOT all work as they haven't been moved over. That is fine though as that is how we do the dev releases. If this fixes your issues, you won't have to wait long for the new stable firmware to be out -- once it is, a lot of the issues people here are having in regards to USB (storage and other devices). Sebkinne
@d1000 How did you burn out your hub? That is hardly the pineapple's fault? If you bought another USB and you are still not getting it to mount, I would suggest you do an ls /dev/sd* and see if it gets recognized at all. From the errors in the log it seems like you are having hardware issues. It is possible that your USB port has some sort of defect. @Crepsidro I think that is wrong. The fit works fine for a lot of people (though yes, it has the read-only bug). The USB pack is meant to power the pineapple for a medium duration while being lightweight and have a good size, I wouldn't call it too weak. But hey, that is your opinion. Sebkinne
I've changed like I put in spoiler, just changed the model from 1001 to 1446. Still doesn't work. Sorry man, this product is to raw yet :( To be honest, you provide no logs, no detailed information. You don't follow the guidelines we put up etc etc. I don't know how I can help you best. Calling this product raw is simply not fair, I think there is plenty of proof for it... But it is your opinion and if you think so, fine. Reiterating this point though will probably not get you answers. As I said, I am happy to help but you NEED to provide the information we need. If you check over other threads, we are always happy to help and do our best to make everything work! I would LOVE to get this up and running for you ;) If you provide more detailed logs (syslog after trying 3g.sh) etc I will see if we can get this debugged. Sebkinne, I don't put in question your great effort in try to help me and other folks. But, first, I post, my 3G script, the system logs, the errors and also what changed. What logs do your talk about I didn't show? Since I bought pineapple, I've tried 3 battery packs, no usb working until now. 4 diferente types of storage, 3x 3G pens ... Sorry but If we look for the principal threads that exist in the fórum, a HUGE number of them are regarding, POWER, USB and 3G. Sorry mate, but until now, the product doesn't worth the Money! Just my opinion... Thanks for your help and effort ;)
RChadwick
Just a few observations.... 1) It would be fair to say that a Pineapple is not in the same class as an IPhone. An IPhone is a consumer product. If my overpriced IPhone doesn't work properly, I'll politely complain, and expect a solution. A pineapple is more specialized, requires some skill to use, and is not for everybody. 2) While you may have paid for the hardware, the software is a separate, open source product. 3) It's nice and generous thing that some people are willing to help people for free with open source software. 4) Constantly saying a 'Product' is bad, defective, etc. , more than actually trying to find a solution yourself, is likely not the smartest way to encourage people to help you. There may be situations where acting like a bully is required, and might get results. This doesn't seem like one of those situations. Just my 2 cents.
