Heh, no problem. I'm gonna release tomos i think, debating weither to finish proper chunked encoding support or leave it forcing none. Probably doesn't matter for most people anywho.

Also, thanks whoever sent the 1-cent donation, it will be put to good use :o

I'm not seeing the embedded download button on Pandora's page. (I've tried changing the settings and refreshing the page.) I don't want to rip all songs played, but I can't re-thumbs-up a song that's already been thumbed-up in order to download it. When this happens, I'm having to tell it to rip all so that it rips the currently playing track and then disable rip all (until another song comes up that I don't have that I've already thumbed up). I'm thinking that button would help if I could get it to work.

**EDIT**

Ok, I realized it still ques up the songs for dl under view songs, so that amends that, but the button still isn't showing.

Hmm. This is what I see:

Also, I positively rated a song and it showed this in the log, but didn't commence downloading. I started it manually via the view songs menu. Then when I went to grab the next song, I got this:

post-13329-1237570976_thumb.jpg

Trying to reopen PS didn't do anything--I had to end the SProxy process first. It's the second time that's happened.

QUOTE (brofix @ Tue, 17 Mar 2009 17:47:56 +0000) *

...It is rather the spike becoming a flat-liner at the top of the graph - 100% CPU usage with no relief to be had, yet. Process monitor does not reveal a culprit, to me, perhaps to someone more knowledgeable, probably in the use of 'filters'. Explorer was adjusted to file name / size / date modified...

Do you have a lot of AVI files in that same directory?

None, unless they were put there by PS and are stealthy (I see only mp4, png, m3u). The dir is devoted to PS, absolutely devoted.

I eventually opted to download AVG (free version) and run it. Hundreds of hits from malware, spyware, etc. were found and removed. My HDD started working normal again.

I run avast anti-virus, adaware free and have gone through a few malware purges. The machine is XPP sp3 and doesn't have similar probs I am aware of outside of the PS dir, and/or with PS and FF when they don't dance well together, which happens occasionally.

I disabled some WMP Shell options and removed Windows Search 4.0 and haven't had 100% CPU problems as of late.

How does one disable WMP shell options and remove Windows Search 4.0 (if it doesn't show up in add/remove programs)?

How does one disable WMP shell options and remove Windows Search 4.0 (if it doesn't show up in add/remove programs)?

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

When I first started using Vista, I was only using Windows Media Player (which I've come to know as WMP lol). When I'd click on my MP3 folder, it would take maybe a couple of minutes for the HDD to settle down. The files would show up quickly, but anytime I made an app or Explorer hit that particular directory, ARGH! The system would crawl until the drive stopped whatever it was doing. I read somewhere to disable WMP shell options (which became easily visible with that program ShellExView). Now I can click on my Pandora folder (with 7,500 files) and HDD lights up for about 1 second and it's done.

As for Windows Search 4.0, it was one of those downloadable updates you would see if you ran Windows Updates. I'm not sure if it was one of those programs that would automatically install if you had 'auto' turned on, but I'm sure it did show up in your installed programs and could uninstall it - which is what I did. I've read much about Search 4.0 - good and bad. It caused problems for me. I guess I could have config'd it to ignore my media files, but I don't need the system taking ours to index my HDDs.

So I noticed 2 different things going on: 1) when I went to my music directory, it would take the HDD forever to settle down until I turned off the WMP shell programs, and 2) once in the directory, heaven forbid I opted to click on the size or date header to sort cuz that would take forever with Search installed. Now if I clicked on a header, it resorts those 7500 files in less than a second.

All this FWIW

Are you using firefox or safari/chrome? Otherwise, the download button will not function.

Haven't the faintest what went wrong in the other one. I've added code to handle it, but it really makes no sense (the error.)

Hmm, well that's interesting. Ok.

I'm using FF v 3.0.7, most recent update

Oh, yes, I like it!! Nixed WMP and Zune stuff and I'm sorry to say Real Player also (thought sure I'd removed that one in its entirety). And Video Thumbnail Extractor for good measure.

I don't do auto install of updates and don't see WS anywhere so I hope I'm not afflicted.

Many thanks. I'll report back on the results.

New version tentatively released: download it at http:// zzj.itf-inc.com/SPPS1.003b1.008c.zip OUTDATED

new version nrs SP 1.003b and PS 1.008c

Notable Features changes etc:

SProxy:

Various internal workings improved.

Plugin RPC implemented.

Auto-reload of main screen can be disabled.

Statistics monitoring via web interface and on main form.

Connection sanity enabled for computers with less than 512mb ram (dunno if this would actually help tho)

PS:

Now able to manage songs to be downloaded via the web interface. (RPC)

Turbo mode is allowed to run with encoding enabled until (number of songs to keep in queue) - 5 is reached. Effectively, this means you can have it turbo rip and queue up to 250 songs to be encoded, at which point turbo will be disabled to allow it to catch up. However, turbo mode is not re-enabled after it has been disabled. You'll need to do that yourself. May change in future. THe number of songs is configurable under adv. settings.

About screen added, with several useful links and a shameless plug for donations.

Unified log: all log info will now be in SPLog.txt

Bugfixes.

You will need to delete SProxy.conf with this update (well, okay, you don't have to, but you'll have to reconfigure settings all the same)

How to update - extract the new zip where you have sproxy installed now, overwriting existing files.

Another note - this can now tell when a duplicate is running (that is, if SProxy is still running). It will first poke it on the web interface, and if sproxy is responding properly it will cause the first instance to become visible and the second one will safely exit. If the poking fails, it will show a message saying that SProxy has probably frozen and that you will need to terminate it yourself.

wow - almost 3 weeks and 5 thread pages since last release. lol

Very nice, the latest.

Blip: Playlists not being generated, except for newmusik. XP/FF/turbo. Peculiar.

Viewing save folder still causing 100% cpu usage, but not at the moment with folders not displayed.

Appears that it's not finding the right data in quickmix mode; but works when using a specific station. Older version was fine. Mmmm, regression. Can't be a major problem. Will find it.

Yup, somewhere along the line i killed the bit that sanitized playlist names (some of my playlists have slashes and such in them, and if not removed windows goes apeshit). Doing final testing now.

Uploaded in place. Download at the previous link.

By the way, the PS log is now available with SProxy log at http://127.0.0.1:8888/log or on whatever port you have it listening on. This is incredibly handy, moreso than i thought. lol

OK for me.

BTW: when playlists were not being generated I was tuned to a station rather than in in quickmix mode.

What's the 'Automatic Refund' button for; I haven't made a contribution yet?

Automatic refund? what? There's a donation button on the about page, but that's it...

A note, if an error occurred before it disabled all playlist generation, you will need to re-enable on the extras tab.

Using SPPS1.002b1.008a on XPP/FF, I told PS, from song viewer, to download 4 songs from a couple of new stations of mine, and I received a windows error saying faad.exe has encountered an error and must close. This happened for all four songs and about 3 out of the next 5.

post-13329-1237704519_thumb.jpg

However, most of the songs still processed fine. Only 2 didn't, for which the log displayed

Encoder returned exit code 1

For these files, only .mp4's were saved.

I tried installing the new release to see if the problem would be amended, and several other things went wrong.

Minimally, the Download button still doesn't work

More significantly, Pandora's music doesn't play. The song info and album art pane loads and displays as if going to play, then fades as if already played, and I get this:

post-13329-1237704667_thumb.jpg

I do have Flash 9 installed--it had been working with it a second ago.

Hmmmm. If faad is dieing, something has went horribly wrong. That's about all I can tell. Corrupt data maybe. Anyways, get the unified log for this (go to http://127.0.0.1/log in browser, i need to see everything.)

It's odd that it just tried to switch format in the middle of playing - usually a tuner warning accompanies it (i had it happen when the virtual pc i did some testing in had no sound). I'd try updating flash regardless.

Not a known audio url after that error is because if mp3 data is requested it does not add info concerning that song so it doesn't try to process it.

About the download button: Clear firefox's error log (tools-error console) then load pandora with the button enabled. Copy any errors here.

I'm trying to test, but my XP machine has just decided to freeze while launching. Ugh. Evidently its .net framework is shot.

EDIT:

Okay, did some testing. Found some minor UI bugs but was not able to replicate what happened in either case. Very odd.

Try clearing any caches, deleting everything in the SProxy folder & re-extracting.

Gooman, try the download button with the firefox portable linked in the first post if no errors pop up in the error log.

Ugh, it's amazing what the little things do. It seems to have just been that I wasn't using Flash 10... pardon all the trouble -_-. It seems to be working properly now, except that once I click the download button it doesn't reset for the next song, disallowing reclicking for later songs. Is the button one-time-use-till-refresh?

Noted. I wonder if it is a new change by Pandora.

It should be changing for each song, usually changes about one sec or so after pandora switches... I wonder if i might've messed something up in the JS. Hrm.

BTW - can you try the web-interface for me? I've added support for downloading files via that, too. Open http://127.0.0.1:8888/#PS in your browser, and as songs are added, refresh it. near the very bottom there should be a list of queued songs, with "Download" next to them. It *should* work, but having someone else test it would make me feel better.
