I agree in part but I would say hak5 quality was due to budget restrictions ans learning curve more so than dodginess( I hope) and some sploitcast eps were not all that inspiring with harrison half drunk etc. I think people just need to follow there own path and thats what they have chosen to do. If there is personal politics involved (fighting etc) then that is their business.

Oldest pc I have is a tandy trs-80. The leet one with 64k of ram and colour basic, tape drive etc. It still works perfectly running Microsoft basic 1984
