  1. Be sure that in the preferences you have checked the "warn me of suspicious sites, and/or attack site" in the security tab.
  2. Driver are included in the Kernel, that one of its main purposes. So what exactly are you trying to install? Also 8.10 is AWESOME
  3. Why not turn off a few of those startup programs while you try to find updated driver?
  4. Or set up a system that only you can use and dont teach anyone to use it.. That way when your gone theyre fucked and they have to call you back and you can work as a contractor.
  5. Depends on your needs. I personally use Mint(Ubuntu spin off) and am satisfied, but Slax and Fedora are my true loves. If it wasnt for my wireless card I would switch back to Fedora.
  6. Thats pretty true, and I was like that when I first switched over... "oh I can make word docs and chat, Im good". Then I started playing with terminal a lot more and broke a few things, so its always good to have a little more knowledge than really required. Try these things Kill X and try to login via command line. From there list the contents of your home folder and find a "small" file to copy to your desk top. After its been copied, restart X and log back in to see it it worked. Edit your grub settings so that it wait 1sec, you can usually catch it before it loads the OS so 1 sec is more than enough. Try build most of your applications from source. Dont just use the "make install" command, be sure to configure them if they have to option. and thats all i cant think of without doing to deep
  7. QFE, even /some/ universities have horrible standards*cough MTSU cough*.
  8. QFE, shits really played out now..
  9. I was thinking the same thing. 8GB should be nice. Other than that this is pretty sweet.. What is it going to be used for?
  10. Im sitting on a linux for dummies and C++ book. always handy to have documentation thats not online
  11. DO NOT USE UBUTNTU, you are going to grab dependencies that you do not need. Start with Debian, no gui > install a windows manager > remove components > add software > rebuild kernel > start testing and removing other shit. Just using application manager isnt enough. I personal use Mint, a ubuntu spin off, but IMO slax is better for this kind of thing. EDIT Im hung over so if this doenst make sense im sorry
  12. Good job, at first I thought this was a new sploit. I still have problems with all the metasploit stuff, but this is a really good tut.
  13. Warez are number 1 IMO. Other than that, most "skiddie" tools are loaded with shit, aim booters ect.
  14. Im thinking about getting one of these but for another purpose. I want to attach an arm to it so that i can press buttons, on my printer for example. That way i can remotely turn things on. Also great as a webcam security system.
  15. are you using a swap file instead?
  16. Another social networking site. Maybe once there are a few more users it will get nice. Very good domain btw.
  17. So in west Philly, born and raised, there was this kid on the playgroung... where he spent most of his days, he would go there to hang out and relax, maybe shoot some hoops. Then came these dudes who wanted trouble. He got in a fight and his mum sent him to live with his aunt in Bel Air.. we are trying to get him to move back.
  18. I have some XML books i was going to throw in there, but remember it has to fit in a flat rate box.. And Im sure the next person doesnt want the box to be full of books. They want to tinker ;).
  19. Can you post a picture of the ends? Its a little blurry in the video... Maybe its splitting it, but without a good pic i cant tell.
  20. OHHHHHHHK. Now it makes sense. Since it was a misunderstand i redact my statement, however i still keep my +20 karma belt.
