A media center box needs to be more than a shit box old pc that you found lying around if you want it actually run good You can buy a 250gb hdd for around 60$ if your pressed for hdd space. you could probably put together a decent media center pc for around 600$ if you really wanted to and run myth tv watch the "systm" episode on mythtv it really good. I don't suggest it. Mabey you could mount it on the side of your case instead? All those wifi signals will create havoc with your sound card and other components even if the aerial is outside unless you shield it properly

Last summer I worked for my cities school district doing computer shit. There network is pretty crazy. They have like around 25 schools (elementary + middle school + high school) each has its own LAN which is connected to the school systems wan which goes through a proxy server. all of the school have an MDF and 2 or 3 IDFs. All connected with fiber. Each school has 100+ computers and at least 3 servers. DHCP runs in the switches which are all Cisco. Its kinda hard to explain but it was incredibly organized to the point were you know the ip of a computer or printer just by knowing what room its in and where it is in the room. I spent a lot of time feeling like a telephone operator sitting in the IDF's trying to get all the computers plugged into the network.

I saw a cluter that some guy made. He took them all and stacked them with some threaded rod running between them, it was actually pretty cool. Make sure to get ones that have built in CF card readers, so you can use CF instead of hdd's or something that requires a lot of power

the admin at my school really doesn't know much about computers at all. for the longest time i was able to get to the root of one of the schools servers and change stuff on the website and what not. i used the "net user administrator *" and it didn't give me a "access denied" for w/e reason even "control userpasswords2" will work the way the security policy seems to work is that you can type in the adress of a folder that we can't have access to, or use a short-cut to it. But any other way will work. and sadly all we have at our school is IE6 for some reason. no firefox except on a handfull of computers that people somehow installed it onto.

all you need to do is a add a pre-amp the signal coming out of an ipod is powered where as a mic is not. I have a high-end SHURE mic for my computer that uses XLR...so i have an adapter and a pre-amp Mic ---> Pre-Amp ---> Transmitter

It makes since so leave the keys on the computers. They are required to buy/have the licenses but they don't need to use them for that machine. If you have 321 computers then you need 321 licencses. I worked over last summer imaging all the machines in the entire school distract (mac and pc) with new images. We downloaded the same image over the network to all the computers. I bet that if you check a bunch of computer with that program that pull the product keys off of machines they will all be the same unless you school admin is a complete noob and individually installed software on each computer

My school "hides" the c-drive so that it doesn't show up in My Computer (which you can do with TweakUI.exe). All you need to do to gain access to is to 1: Start > All Programs > And Double Click any of the program folders. this should bring up an explorer box somewhere in "c:/documents and settings/all users/start menu/all programs/random program folder" 2: Hit the "Up" button to go to the directory that contains the current directory. 3: Repeat step 2 until you are in the" c:" drive 4: Feel Free to browse the "c:" drive, you shouldn't have any problem accessing the Windows directory either since you need to have at least read access to the windows directory to execute most programs Something Else Thats Neat.... even if the admin did block the cmd.exe they may not have blocked the command.com which is more or less the same thing. Mine even allowed me to reset the local Admin password for the computer. Once Again....Physical Access to a box means that its pwned....

I've done that before. It works on most elevators.

1.) Dump it into a .zip 2.) rename it .jpeg 3.) Done Obviously not for really secure stuff, but its a good way to hide stuff quickly.

i think you can use nircmd to refresh the desktop... or just use a html file as the background with a active desktop and use a meta-refresh to cycle through the pages

Look at any cd you have, they all have hidden autorun.inf it should work no problem

If you have permission to use the network from one of their networks i see no reason why you can't from your laptop as long as your not hacking in to there servers or something

you could use something like From Command Line> steghide extract -sf image.jpg -p lamepassword That would extract the file you put in it and then w/e could read the file and pull out the url
