  7. The point you point it out as antenna connection is in real live just a messering point and not a antenna connection. The real antenna is the grey looking block that mounted under the print board number. By removing this and soldering on that point your external antenna lead you have a better connection to the outside world if your antenna is a good working antenna with a good VSWR for this freq: Gerard
  8. Most of the PMCIA or PCI WiFi cards are deaf what means that they will not pick up weak WiFi signals. The new kinds of USB Wifi units (like the SUB-362 (ext) from Senao) are not deaf and wil pick up (out of the box) and connect with WiFi signals from 1km far away. And that not a deaf or hard of hearing peace of WiFi hardware. Gerard
  9. The choice is depending on where, how and or what you you want to use it for. The latest USB version (with dis/mountable antenna) are great for ware driving becouse there not deaf. Gerard
  10. Great episode man, real basic IP-TV loved it. Gerard

Back in the days of this machine cd recordables where sold for FL 35,00 (about 16 euro? or dollars US) a piece (and the buffer under runs where normal errors). (me must be a old sucker) Gerard

    Linux

Kickt the Windows Os of all our family computers en laptops and some of us are running now Freespire and the others in my famliy both the Linspire out of the box Os and running that now. We tried Unbuntu, Fedora and about 12 others known distro's but finally our choice went for Lin/Freespire. Our reason for this choice is that even our youngest (4 en 7 years old) liked it and can work with it just like they where used to work with windows. And the older kids and my wife and I do like the really ease to use setup and the fact that all our hardware is working with out any problems and directly under Free or Linspire. But (yes there is always a but) the online support (form) sucks big time. My family is so lucky that we know some good people that are working with debian linux every day and becouse Free/linspire is debian based its easy for them to help us. Gerard
  16. Right on the button, its freespire tuned KDE desktop Gerard
  17. Wel here is a little update: Instald Freespire on the sparebox, installation went smood. Playing with it take some ghetting use to, but if you like to run a Linux OS in only X then this is somthing fore you. Installing exstra's prog: or addon's is simpel (almost just like in windows) with the CNR icon button. Found out that freespire has a problem with my MatroX dual monitor video card (no dual monitor function (and that sucks big time for me)). The Freespire Support form is frendly ( logt on the form as a noob and played for stupid) and must say (all do my MatroX dual monitor video card problem is'nt solft) the welcom all users Geek's and noob's. I think that i will setup a Box with freespire by my 7 and 9 year old kids and biy my parents just to see if they can get used to working with linux inplace of windows. Will let you know. Gerard :P

  20. @ VaKo, well I downloaded a ISO of FreeSpire and started it up (ISO can run on cd and also has a install to HD option just like the Ubuntu distro that you named) as run on cd. At first glance it looks slow but nice. Wil put it on a spare system here and let the kids start playing with it. Let you all know how it ends. Gerard
  21. Someone told me of a free Linix distro i never heard of its named "FreeSpire" (i do know of LinSpire). Is there anyone here with some experience with freespire? Is it any attention worthy (as a debian en windows user)? Gerard
