  1. Nope here @ FON and with the so called invite's a invited person can get a La fonera router for just $20,00 in de States or 20,00 Euro's in Europe. Gerard
  2. Start out with the inside of a La Fonera WiFi router. Second we take a 16dbi sector antenna by Canopii. Next we put in a PowerOverEthernet (POE) adaptor like the one of Dlink. And as last we put in some exstra stuf to jut give it your tast. We start with getting to the inside of the 16dbi Canopii sector antenna. And in this 16dbi Canopii sector antenna we adding the insides of the La Fonera WiFi router and some exstra's just to give it that P.O.E tast zo we can feed it the DC working current and the lan connection by just making use of one UTP cable. Next is testing the 6dbi Canopii sector antenne with the insides of La Fonera WiFi router and the exstra's like the PowerOverEthernet (POE) adaptor. When all is working well, it is time to put de jacket back on the 16dbi Canopii sector antenna wat will make it a Fonera-Canopii. When all of that is done your Fonera-Canopii is ready to be mounted outside like on a pole in your yard or to the wall of your house, and with only a Catt5 cable to feed it of its DC working current ad its connection to the lan inside your house it really can be done a more easyier Gerard. Some exstra info 1 Dipool = 2dBi 2 Dipolen = 5dBi 4 Dipolen = 8dBi 8 Dipolen = 11dBi Adding a Reflector = 16dBi Some what loss of the coax adaptation network = -2dBi All to getter will give this Fonera-Canopii a gain of 14dBi. Just have fun in your live, and share this with the people that are around you. Gerard

  4. Introducing the BT FON Community, Wi-Fi everywhere in the U.K. FON and BT have partnered to create the BT FON Community to cover the entire U.K. with hundreds of thousands of BT FON hotspots. You already know who we are, the world’s largest Wi-Fi Community, and BT is one of the leading broadband providers in the world, and the birth of our BT FON Community means something uniquely special for broadband users in the U.K. and all over the world. We have integrated FON in BT and now more than more than 3 million Total Broadband customers are invited to join the enormous global community of people sharing their WiFi. The fact that a market leader like BT supports FON’s revolutionary model for a massive Wi-Fi community built for and by the people marks a bold step in the communications industry. Every person in the UK who agrees to share a small portion of their home broadband connection will be able to share the connection of any other member. Anyone joining in will be able to use those FON hotspots across the world and all the new BT FON hotspots free of charge. From the very beginning, all of you, Foneros, believed in the concept of sharing and in people’s ability to build something important that would benefit everyone. BT is one of the most important telcos and ISPs in the world, so with BT FON those beliefs have proved to be well-founded! And of course, the best news for all your Foneros around the world is that you can connect to the new BT FON Community Wi-Fi hotspots for FREE! Thanks to all of you, and welcome to the U.K.!

  6. During the remodeling of my house I found some old computer hardware laying a round in places i totally forgot i got. Becouse iam a kind of hardware hacker i had to do something with some of this old hardware. And so i made this Intel CPU Key ring from a old CPU a ring and some soldering, with a Dremel i grind down all the CPU pins and with a soldering iron en some soldering a soldered a ring to the CPU. And its a nice change of the RAM-mem-Key ring that i also have use for many years now, (started out with a 30pins mem module and when that broke 4 years ago a replaced the broken 30 pins with a 72 pins one). Have fun in your life and with your old hardware. Gerard
  7. Founded 5 years ago a free wifi internet acces communitie in my little (Dutch) village About 53 fam: are making use of this WiFi network to connect to the internet. 16. In fact de a the WiFi Dlink AP connected to a homemade coax omni and a PMR446 unit wil be hang directly under and on the (kabel) ballon. En wil be connected and feeded a internet connection and working power (bij homemade POE) by cat5 (2 times +/- 50 meter (one to the Wifi and one to the PMR446unit under need the ballon)) cabel . The point where this (cabel) ballon is released is the highest point here arond a place named Emmen and thats named "de Bult"in Dutch this point is a round 60 meters above the ground level. So the (cabel) ballon mounting point of the WIFI ap and the PMR446 unit wil be +/- 100 meters obove the Dutch ground level. And the planning is that wardrive teams teams wil try to get a fare a way posible connection over the under this (cabel) ballon mounted WiFi acces point and PMR446unit by useing the one Wifi wardrive setups and PMR446 radio's. (its something like the deafcom WiFi shootout only by the missing of mountens here in the Dutch lanscape just a little bit dif:) clear a nuf so? Gerard
  17. My Dutch "DeGrijze" nickname (translated to Englisch is "TheGrayone") came from the the collor of my head hair (when its not shaven) and facial hair. One of my (now19 years old) kids just to call me "DeGrijze" and it just grow on me. Gerard
  18. During the first weekend of June (2007) in Emmer-Compascuum (the Netherlands) (in imitation of WirelessPinksterKamp-2006) the WirelessPowerKamp will take place. During this evement (1-3 June) there wil beside the already trusted workshops, a WiFi (and PMR-446) antennamessering (on the 2 of Juni (besite WiFi 2,4 Gig antenna's there wil be also WiFi 5 Gig and PMR-446 antenna's testing and messering)) On Sonday (3 Juni) there wil be a (kabel) ballon WiFi/PMR shootout contest. (we don't have any mountens here in the Netherlands so we have to improvice) On a place named "de Bult" there will be a (kabel) ballon released, under the ballon there wil be mounted a hardware hackt (D-link-DWL900AP+) WiFi accespoint and a hardware hackt PMR radio (connected to a (Windows) internet Relea systeem). More info (sorry is in Dutch lang) can be find here http://www.w-p-k.org (or by a direct link http://www.w-p-k.org/wpk-2007/index.php) I wil try to get someone to shoot some video of this WPK-2007 event, and send it to Darran or Wess Gerard (by the way the PMR-446 hardware hacks and the D-Link DWL-900AP+ hardware hacks for this (kabel) ballon (project) event are being made by one of the WPK team members (Pe2eR))
  19. MMmm, running Wifi networks is my live And in your case a filtering on mac-adress is the most simple solution. Just fill the mac-adresses of the WiFi networking card of the neighbors you want to share your connection with in your Wifi accespoint/router (don't forget to put in your one mac-adress to) and now only the WiFi cards with the mac-adresses that you put in your Wifi accespoint/router can make use of your shared connection. Gerard
