  7. I will be there in add the Wireless Camp/Village, and just a little warning in advance, coming with a so named Hak.5 group/village is a little bit asking for trouble. Most of the persons and groups that will be there add the campsite are hardcore hackers (yes and Crackers) and they just do not like softcore groups. So the change will be very likely that a softcore Hak.5 group wil just be nuked and nuked and nuked and nuked and so on. So my advice is when your are softcore or a nobody just try to blend in with out making your self really present. Gerard
  8. Just made a joke nothing more or less. Point is taken. Gerard
  9. Wrong question, i shut be "Do you ever need Windows" ;) Gerard
  10. There is space for two USB Mem: sticks. (see picture below 1x8gig and 1x4gig mem stick) Thats where the extra wire in one of the picture's is going to before, the plane is to mount a mini BT usb stick somewhere in the top (screen) section of mine EeePc. When i have done that i will be putting up some picture's of it in this post. Gerard
  11. Well finally with the help of my mate "Erwin" my EeePc 701 4G got (hardware) hacked. Because my vision is not getting better with me growing older, and my mate Erwin still got a good 20-20 vision this (hardware) hack is done add my mate's place. What did we do. Well we added a mini USB-hub in to my EeePc, so the EeePc gets some extra internal usb ports for adding on some extra USB mem. sticks or what ever. This is the mini USB-hub that we used. And here we got the usb wiring/pinout info And this (see picture below) is how we where going to do this (hardware) hack And this is how we done it. (see picture below) The internally made USB ports are going to get a usb stick 8 or 16 Gig Mem sticks, so there is just that little bit more extra working mem inside this sweet EeePc 701 4G. Gerard

  20. All and all i still find "Harrison" the coolest dude of all the Hak5 shows, (maby becous he reminded me of my younger self way back). Gerard
  21. In any case now Ali and Wess are gone its about time for a new "Hak5 leader" becous the current one is really out of date. Gerard
  22. If that is the case you do not want to go for the 900, you must be going for the 901 version The 900 version from Asus is more like the Windows ME (ME = Mistake Edtion) from Microsoft. I know this becous i own the 701, 900, 901 version en the most fun i have with the 701, why? just becous its the hackable one of them all. Gerard And just 4 the hack of it.
  23. Oke getting de sound drivers to work in windows xp nlite is simple ones you know how. Start with: 1) Go into control panel -> system -> hardware -> device manager, found the PCI Unknown device, right clicked it, chose "uninstall..." 2) Installed WinRAR from www.rarlabs.com 3) Ran WinRAR, then explore the eee CD to: drivers\audio\driver\mshdqfe\Win2K_XP\us\ and select "sb888111xpsp2.exe" open it in WinRAR (which wil shows the files inside) 4) Extracted all to the dekstop under folder "audioupdate" 5) Its windows so Reboot 6) The found new hardware wizard appeared... chose the manual install or specify a location, Then selected System Devices -> Have Disk..., then Browse... and brows to the desktop\audioupdate\commonfiles folder 7) Inside THAT folder there are some files that are selectable. chose hdaudbus (or maybe hdaudio (sorry can not remember any more)), if it doesn't work try both It should then detect Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio and go on to install the driver 8) After that the driver installs, it takes a while as it sets up a bunch of new devices 9) Finally when it's all done you should have sound. The volume icon will not appear so go into control panel -> sounds and turned it off/on with the checkbox.. but it will started making a sound right away on (re)boot 10) This will be the end of your nightmare to get the sound working!! Now you will sleep sweet dreams! Gerard
