You COULD also install an alternate shell isntead of using Explorer.exe. Unfortunatly, I can't remember any off the top of my head that would work well. Maybe use http://www.nliteos.com]Nlite to remove most of the stuff, Install Firefox or Opera, and Office/OpenOffice.org, then remove as many icons from the taskbar as possible.

If it was torrented, some of the torrent sites will have the password posted somewhere. Unfortuantly, msot of hte rar cracks you'll find by googling, etc. are crap. This may not be ideal if its a big file or only avalible form one site, but you could always try downloading form another site?

Surly that means you are booting another OS off the USB flash... and, not stopping there, including EFI support so it will work on Intel macs? If you have physical access to the computer, you can mount the drive under Linux, and run w/e from there. He never did say Switchblade-esque functionality.

1. Very unlikly since the Wiki says early development. I would be suprised if there was a proof of concept or anything yet. 2. I dunno 3. Same way it'll exploit Windows: scripts and 3rd party programs. Linux is not completly secure. It's still coded by humans, thus susceptible to flaws. My belife is that the magic that keeps Linux and MacOS from being exploited is lack of users. 4. No clue.

Keep in mind that Windows XP is about 4 years old, so if your network card and soundcard use even somewhat newer chipsets (or SiS chipsets), it's very likly that XP wouldn't have the drivers for them. Plus, for network drivers, you can jsut use the computer/OS your using now to download teh drivers and transfer them via CD, USB or Floppy drive to your Windows install, and uipgrade that way.

I'm thinking that the corporate drive is a SATA drive, and NTFSDOS just doesn't have the SATA drivers.

If you must crack school networks, be VERY careful. Most often, those in charge of administering the networks know nothing. I almost got suspended for running Portable Firefox off my USB key. They couldn't get me with violating my ToS, so they got me with "willful disobedience". They compared it to driving a Porsche down a major street at 3AM at 160km/h. Personally, I just looked over the techs shoulder when he logged in (computers should NOT be that close), and to bypass web filters, I installed circumventor on my home computer and used that as a web-based proxy. My schools run by retards THEY BLOCK DIGG! They call it a messageboard/newsgroup. But I can still visit Hak5... This is very skiddy, but by discovering skiddy style attacks, we can also defend ourselves from them. Especially with todays world, where peple find it fun to spam, troll and flame, there are more and more script kiddies, and the first step to protecting yourself form them, is to find possible attacks. By fully disclosing attacks such as these, we are also giving people a chance to protect themselves.

To play games, you're basically gonna have to either play only games made for Linux (not many of them), have a Windows installation just for gaming, or stick with consoles.
