  1. Ok, I've been on myspace for 5 minutes and already I'm getting emails with people wanting to be my friend. Guess what, your on the forums, your all cool, I consider all the fans friends. I've always made myself available through the forums, email, IRC, and if you ask for my messenger info you'll likely get it. But please, I'm not on myspace to add a gizilion fan friends or to promote the show. It's just there so that nobody tries to pose as me. So while I'm flattered by the friend requests I've change my account settings not to email me about them and I'll likely never login again to click accept or anything.

And yes, I had a friend, his name was Tom. I know there is a story behind that but I can't remember at the moment (That's not the myspace virus guy is it?)

So yeah, fsck Tom. I don't know Tom so he was deleted.

And to top things off, my pony died because it wasn't pretty enough! AHHHH!!!!

  2. Damn you people.. Damn you all.. I've gone against something I've believed in for a long time. This doesn't change anything. I still hate myspace. But the more I got thinking about it, the less I wanted to wake up one day and find that someone had made a fake profile of me on myspace for slanderous reasons.

So there, I'm on myspace. It's my name and my picture.

Ahh. I need to go shower after that.

  3. As long as what's posted won't get us in trouble with the law I don't have a problem with that's being posted. We comply with all DMCA notices (but don't get me started on that law) so it's really a non issue. Free speech rules.

However, I've said it once and I'll say it again. On one shoulder sits a BOFH and the other sits the first amendment (again sorry to be US centric). The only thing that ever sets off my BOFH alarm are immature, slanderous, or flaimbait posts. (I'm looking at you syntax if you hadn't gotten the drift).

Anyway: on with the mind altering, soul searching, tree hugging happy drugs.

My $0.02: Stay away from Dextromethorphan. I know in high school it's highly available but it's not something you want to mess with.

  4. VaKo, you are my hero. Nice photoshopping. And welcome to the insanity kainchick. When I'm not playing Darren on Hak.5 I'm playing mother goose on the forums.

Wait, I mean, screw it you know what I mean.

Note: I just realized there is a distinct difference in the insanity that takes place on the forums and IRC. Both are quite interesting to observe and compare.

  5. I've got to say I'm not a fan of this thread either, and it's the second one I've been a not so much a fan of tonight. Wait, that's not even gramatically correct. Can we get a gramar and spell check here?

Anyway, on one shoulder I've got the BOFH (google if you need) and on the other is the first amendment (Sorry to be US centric).

Lets just say, syntax, your making spektormax look good ;). (no offense spektormax, "yuor kool in mi bouk" ;) )

  6. DV footage is huge, but consider this. If the end result will be rendered in, say 900kbps xvid, then transmitting segments to eachother at 2400kbps (which is still a million times smaller than DV) should look acceptable when finally compressed.

And VaKo, don't say being director of photography like it's not a big deal. That's a really important and respectable job.

  7. Hey guys, it's me your happy forums sysop. Don't mind me, I'm just poping in to say thanks. I was skipping around the forums and saw a really lame thread/poll about how macs suck. I didn't read it all so for all I know it could have gotten good, and I havent read every post in this thread, but what I did read made me feel better about the forums.

So anyway, cary on. I just wanted to say I'm happy to see some really interesting thoughs in this thread.

PS: Darren Kitchen and Hak5 do not promote doing anything illegal, including drugs, under age drinking, etc. Just gotta throw that out there. Be safe and trusten der technolusten.

  8. I came close to just deleting this thread since it seemed like utter flamebait.

Look, if your going to post a poll, at least make it nonbias. Your poll looks like "Have you told your father your gay yet?"

After skipping around the thread it looks like there is some real discussion going on so I leave it, but WTF guys, can we like, not get into these pathetic debates that have been hashed out a million times over in grade school?

Sorry, maybe I'm being a bit BOFH, but seriously, this poll sucks.

BTW: I like Mac, Windows, and Linux. They all have great software. What I want is an OS that runs everything, is secure, and gets out of the way so I can do what I really want to do. Use applications to get stuff done. period.

  9. It's going to happen. There is nothing stopping it and it's something a lot of people want. There are a ton of creative people all over the Internet with big dreams that can be easily realized. Cameras & Editing software is cheap. There is an audience for just about anything on the Internet. Mainstream media will adapt but nothing makes me happier than seeing true homegrown TV online.

    IPTV FTW

  10. Yes, Canada does rock.

As for me not using podcatchers, I guess I'm just oldschool and like the manual control of my media. I've got RSS feeds but honestly I enjoy just checking out my fav. websites and downloading the shows on my schedule. eh?

  11. Getting back on topic:

I've got a bookmarked tab set in Firefox which opens all my fav. show's websites. From there I download them to whichever drive has free space at the moment and watch. Then I either leave the file there to be deleted when I run out of room next, or if it's on my desktop clean it off within the next few days. I used to archive them but DV footage is huge and takes priority on my HDDs.

  12. Ahh, the Hak.5 soundtrack... Featuring, well, we didn't have the license to the original theme song (but that's ok we were 'underground' then)... Then there's the current theme by Ashley Witt (great song btw). Hmm. Well, there's that drum loop used in bumpers from episodes 4, 5, and 6... Now we've got the new bumper sound with the flute and drums. So thats, what, 3 tracks? Sorry, just thinking out loud here.

Then again there's always the 'music from and inspired by Hak5' thing but, eh?
