  1. sounds like a good solution, as long as he doesn't spoof his MAC. :P (somehow i doubt it)
  2. You could break into Virginia Prescription Monitoring Program database and hold their data and backups ransom for $10 million.
  3. Yes, by using iptables masquerade and you wont need a crossover cable iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE http://www.howtoforge.com/internet-connect...rading-on-linux
  4. well ipkg is obsolete and not installed on 8.09 kamikaze.
  5. check with your local authorities. as long as you're not being a bandwidth hog or doing anything illegal, I'm sure the owners wouldn't mind
  6. agreed, not worth it. and i would hardly say that BT4 is bloated.
  7. @digininja Do you configure the Fon's wireless AP to not bridge to the Fon's LAN and just route to the default gateway? If I understand this right, with this setup the default gateway could be any machine, or it could be the Fon's WAN port. To clarify your network setup, the Fon is dishing out 10.x.x.x/24 IPs. Your main network is 192.168.x.x/24 and the Fon's WAN has an IP from this range?
  8. as i understand it, the netbook remix version is just the desktop version with the netbook remix interface. I've been using UNR version for several weeks and as far as i can tell the netbook remix is no different than the desktop version.
  9. Just install the official netbook remix and switch the interface to classic by going to the preferences panel.
  10. it is proper ubuntu, just with a different user interface, which you can easily switch between.
  11. Some of the netbooks UNR 9.04 has been tested on. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks
  12. You are already MitM, why do you need to use ettercap? Just sniff the traffic with ferret, tcpdump, wireshark, network miner.
  13. this just looks like a repackaged Ubuntu Netbook Remix....shady..
  14. I absolutely love Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 on my Dell Mini 9.
  15. That's strange Atheros chipsets usually play nice with Linux. after some reading, it sure sounds like the Atheros 5700 doesn't like Linux. My suggestion would be to boot UNR 9.04 off a thumb drive before going for the full install. What OS did the eee 900 come with? edit: http://www.ubuntugeek.com/atheros-ar5007-w...ardy-heron.html
  16. Try the Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 RC. It works flawlessly on my Dell Mini 9. The install is just under 2GB on the drive and it worked with no need to configure the Broadcom 4312 wifi card (and Intel 3945ABG card). Do you know what kind of wireless card the eee 900 has?
  17. Is there a specific part of the guide that you are having issues with?
  18. This is the thread digininja is referring to: http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=12558 as for the problem you're having. On the client (I'll assume WinXP) go to the wireless's NIC properties. On the wireless networks tab, add a new wireless network (name it whatever you want, something random), use the advanced button to set the encryption type to none, and select the connect to this network when in range box. Do you see this new network on the client when looking for wireless networks in range?
  19. Try using these: http://downloads.openwrt.org/kamikaze/7.09....6-vmlinux.lzma http://downloads.openwrt.org/kamikaze/7.09...6-root.squashfs
  20. I'm not very clear on your issue. Have you tried running FonFlash.exe and pointing it at the .squash and .lzma? While the Fon is off press "Go" or the equivalent and then power on the Fon. Also in my experience the Fon+ don't need to be 'unlocked' to flash but to cover my bases, do you know what version of the firmware the Fon shipped with?
  21. HA, I have the exact same problem but have yet to find a decent product.
  22. +1 Portforward.com is the way to go. also maybe try upgrading your firmware. it sounds like you are having random issues that might have been fixed.
  23. it means he has the technology!

    Nmap help

nmap -PN assumes that all hosts are online and will preform a port scan on each host. The question is, given a MAC address, how does one find the IP address. nmap -PN won't be very useful for this.
