  1. if you are talking about att hotspots. Maybe if you have an att plan that supports that.
  2. Try fon flash from the Gargoyle website. If that doesn't work, try a linux live cd and the redboot.pl by digininja.
  3. what happens if you set your IP to 192.168.1.254 and run ping 192.168.1.1 -t while powering on the fon? if you get a few replies and then no respond, that is RedBoot (bootloader) coming up. I would then try a reflash. sorry to hear about your bad luck. hope you can get it running. edit: i seem to remember some problems with Freifunk and Piranah. (Freifunk is outdated) Try Fon Flash from: http://www.gargoyle-router.com/download.php or try it manually with redboot.pl and the Piranah install guide.

    VNC over SSH

i wasn't sure if 127.0.0.1:70 was a typo and you meant to put 127.0.0.1:5970

    VNC over SSH

i think you mean vncviewer 127.0.0.1:5970 other than that, yes this is how it's done. all traffic generated and destined to VNCViewer will be directed to localhost port 5970, normally this would go nowhere, but the ssh connection listens for any connections to 127.0.0.1:5970 and forwards them to the remote ssh server.
  6. Case closed, it is illegal and unethical to connect to any access point one doesn't have authorization to. thank you for providing me some evidence.
  7. the mail is sealed (protected), an open wireless ap is not (unprotected). Let's say the mailman delivered a postcard, i have every right to read it if its in my mailbox.. also, you are assuming that a piece of mail is the same as radio waves. it is not. i think you are confusing ethics and law. is it ethical to connect to an open ap you haven't had permission for? maybe. is it illegal, i don't know, I'm not a lawyer. should it be illegal, absolutely not.
  8. Have you tried the Piranha firmware with Jasager preinstalled and everything config? http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=13013
  9. Look at it this way. YOUR wireless access point is broadcasting into MY house without my permission. My computer is merely accepting and invitation by your AP. So really I'm not walking into to your house because the door is unlocked, I'm walking into your house because the door is unlocked and you invited me in. Also, let's say at my house I have a Linksys router set to factory defaults, ie now encryption, ssid is linksys. I decided to do some computing (paper writing) at the park down the street. While at the park, my computer automatically connects to the neighbors AP which is also a Linksys router with factory defaults. I am now a criminal because that person cannot secure an AP. Please.
  10. the msi wind might have the most compatible hardware.
  11. i agree with digip. tshark and i believe tcpdump have an option to rotate files after X MB. (check out the man pages or -h of either) Then have a cron job delete the old files.
  12. i seem to have some issues reconfiguring the wireless thru the web interface. After saying save and apply, the fon needs a power cycle for me to get connected back to it. Is there a log file i can look at for more information? also, what is the wifi0 interface used for?
  13. I'm running it on 2201. Haven't had any issues with assigning IP addresses through a wired connection. I will try connecting to the wireless later. @orange The Kismet Drone, does that need to connect to a Kismet server?
  14. Shutdown /h Shutdown /r /f /m \\test2k3 /t 01
  15. could you give a quick explanation of how to go about removing wifi0 from the lan? ie, how this is config?
  16. Awesome. Installing right now. Is there a list of tools built into Piranah2?
  17. first off, you need to use a captial W. ferret -W that will display a list of adapters that you can then choose to start the capture on. ferret -i 2 or ferret -i eth0 ferret will start from hamster's web interface.
  18. Have you enabled access from the freeSSHd user panel? with all the red/green 'buttons'.
  19. World in Conflict is a great game. Lots of fun.
  20. Well, what wireless card is it? Can you put it into monitor mode with airmon-ng?
  21. It really doesnt matter what OS you're using for what you're doing because you will PHYSICALLY be in the middle client---fon---you---router---internet but yes, try configuring the WAN interface to be on the same network as the laptop NIC. That should do it.
  22. Starcraft and SC:Broodwar still play them to this day.
  23. Are you plugging the ethernet cable into the WAN port on the fon+? Is the WAN port and the laptop NIC on the same network? ie. 192.168.0.1 and 19.168.0.254 Why should you be using Linux? XP is a fine OS.
