smoky
Hey guys, I have been looking for a proxy service based in the UK, but I cannot seam to find any. All the proxy services seam to be in the US. I just wondered if anyone could post some links to any proxy services that you would recommended. I have looked @ the Torrify proxy service but they dont seam to have got of the ground yet with the paid services.. I would prefer a proxy that can take all kinds of connections (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, etc, etc), gives a large amount of bandwidth, and other than that i am not to bothered about other things.. I just want to port forward every port on my computer to there servers (well not any on 127.0.0.1 :P) and encrypt my traffic. Any ideas? Sparda
A paid for proxy service won't cover you if you brake the law just in case you where wondering.
smoky
I want a service like this because i like my privacy.. Nothing more nothing less.. Just because i posted something about proxies on the Hak5 board doesnt mean i want to either hack something or break an AUP. I am a university student on a private network with 5 other students, 2 of which are computer students. I wouldnt like to use an free proxy because i know they can be used for the wrong reasons. Also i am getting a laptop for taking into uni and i know alot of people who monitor the network looking for data.. I want to use a proxy for the right reasons.. VaKo
The easiest way is to rent a cheap VPS or similar and connect to that with a VPN. If you have a few mates who want to chip in get a dedicated server and if anyone you know has a big enough pipe going to an premises they control, just co-lo a box there. Quick question for sparda, who in gods name would be dumb enough to commit crime using something they were paying for? Un-secured wifi yes, but not a proxy service based in the UK that has your credit card details.

Probably the same people who get caught with child porn because they paid for it using their credit card (although incidentally quite a number of people have had a lot of trouble because their credit card was used without them knowing to buy child porn and then the UK police handled stuff gleaned from Operation Ore like idiots by not actually investigating if the credit card owners had actually accessed child porn or not, unlike the US police who in this case were (perhaps unusually?) a lot smarter). VaKo
Maybe my standards are to high then, I just can't see why people don't realize thats suicidally stupid.
wildone
No proxy can save you all they need to get is your ip address and your mac address. Privacy is such a relative thing now days when your isp is giving the National Music Publisher's Association all your information anyways. xPAKxMaster
Hey i know you were wondering if there were proxies out ther. . . well the best suggestion is 1st. get an ip "masker"(forgot the name) that changes your ip to a random one like china. 2nd. get an application that hides your internet usage-- my personal favorite which i use daily -Anonymizer- which is commonly found as software for u3 devices but they have a non u3 version, for me it has worked flawlessly, all my schools firewalls havent blocked it in anyway, and i tested common networking monitoring  as seen on one of the HAK5 episodes and everything was encrypted. 3rd and final- get an application that hides, changes or destroys mac addresses, to simply change i use the SIW for windows-it has that tool in it. if you do all of this you will be set. ps -anonymizer is pretty damn fast (avr 25mms) considering the huge pings proxies have these days(+500) here's a list anonymizer- www. anonymizer. com SIW - hxxp: www. gtopala. com/siw-download. html ip masker- i have none on the top of my head i used to use Hide IP but it started to suck. i hope this helps you. but remember do NOT USE this for hacking because i do not know your experience and you will get in trouble, plus its agaisnt the law. i dont use it for hacking just to get past the stupid school's mac address and HTTP firewall that blocks my laptop, youtube and google images. (i know they're retarded). Cya, au revoir, adeus xPAKxMaster Portugal-USA

xPAKxMaster
You mean TOR? yes and no, i'll say maybe lol, only because tors and especially torpark tends to be very very very slllooowww 87% of the time , especially under a school's firewall, but you're very close. because i was recomending a standalone ip changer that all it does is show a different ip so firewalls get confused "i know thats what basically tor does, but a faster solution is more attractive." :-D
Sparda
Well, my point was that you can't mask or hide your public IP address. Doing so would make every thing not work. TOR is the only service (aside from regular proxys) that actually will allow you to change the IP address that servers you are connecting to see. Deveant
agreed, i was under the impersion that if u change the outbound packet, to a different Source address it would never return to you.
xPAKxMaster
yeah its true tor is the mostlikely use agreed, i was under the impersion that if u change the outbound packet, to a different Source address it would never return to you. well i didnt mean to change the source only give a fake ip to everyone that looks it up, but the actual router would have my ip but you would have to be in constant monitoring because that ip would constantly change. so it makes it hard for firewalls to detect you or block you because you confuse them with the ip but overall it can be defined as a proxy because it searches the proxies out there and uses them to mask your ip without having to go through the proxy to access websites... i guess thats it , because in fact im still a noob with proxies and tors so im trying to be as clear as possible, just trying to be of help lol thanks for the comment though.  :D

SomeoneE1se
I don't see how what you say is possible. if your are on top of the same HUB and were sniffing packets it could workbut hit one router between and it fails...
Guest requiemnoise
There is no such a thing as a privacy on the net. There is no such a thing as relying on IP address to trace someone. IP and MAC address can be faked. Go read up on your seven layers of OSI. just follow few things... 1. If an end point offers encryption and you trust it, use it. 2. encrypt important files. don't rely on your default filesystem permissions, because when it isn't booted the filesystem isn't alive. Anything can happen, so encrypt important files. 3. If your isp doesn't offer SSL over pop mail, but they offer ssh shell, learn about how to route your mail to ssh port. 4. don't leave your mail on the server. they don't really monitor your attempts logs. your mail has passwords, your life, and other various things that a social engineer can utilize. 5. don't use pirated apps if you are a standard PC user. Today's Antivirus and malware detectors are database driven and not everything can be in the database or discovered. Rootkit finders are never perfect. 6. Buying a commercial Proxy account doesn't save from your government. It saves you from credit frauders and identity thieves. 7. Install sshd on every machine and learn to use it. Tunneling is fun. Guest requiemnoise
Don't argue.. Have fun. There are enough free tools out there that you don't have spend a dime. You have to only invest your time. By the way, if this proxy thing is not for WAREz00)inzing (y0y0-kittie), but just to protect yourself from work or wifi spots, here is an idea for you. I noticed most people are Windoz users, so I will explain it in Windoz way... Windoz can be secure, if you lock it down. It is just impossible to easily manage them. 1. Set your router to port forward ssh to 443. every corporations, schools, and wifi spots have to allow 80 and 443 out, so workers can do their job. Most companies can't afford a deep packet inspection software. Those two ports should be open. 2. Get a free dynamic dns account if you don't have a static ip. 3. Run sshd on your Windoz box. Download a free copsshd server. It is maintained well. 4. Install Vmware or other free virtualization software such as Virtualbox. Set your virtual machine to bridge and give it's own internal ip address. 5. There should be a pre-made distros that runs and pre-configured SQUID proxy server. There are so many BSD and Linux distros now. There should be an easy to use with a web interface distro that runs Squid. Another option is look for a stable Windows Proxy server. 6. Just configure squid to go port 8080 or something. 7. Configure putty to tunnel 8080 from your Windows SSHD box. 8. ssh to your home Windows box. 9. you should be already tunneling 8080. 10. change your browser settings to the outside ip address of your home and change the port to 8080. 11. You should be browsing using your proxy server.
