TrophyTruck
So, I got my Pineapple in the mail today and following the start up instructions. Windows7 but I have Vista and the instructions aren't applying. Can I run in Vista? I'm lost! I can get to Network Connections but, it doesn't show up as Internet Facing Adapter or Pineapple Facing Adapter. I'm connected from the Pineapple to PC using ethernet. Any advice wouls be appreciated.
Neworld
If your looking for internet connection.... I would recommend this video. there is also a module in the making for internet connection through wifi adapter connected to pineapple. :D
Neworld
If your looking to ssh into the pineapple, use "putty". Another useful tool is "winscp".
TrophyTruck
SO, my laptop doesn't have a PoE/LAN port. It appears you cant ICS without PoE? No way to WAN it?
Sebkinne
I think there is a bit of a misunderstanding here. You can run the pineapple in WinowsXP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (and 8 actually). For windows vista, visit this link. To clear up what you need in regards of ports on your laptop: You need to use the ethernet jack on your laptop. Connect that up to your pineapple (the POE/LAN porn, not the WAN port). Once you have done that, you can start setting up internet connection sharing (ICS) in Windows Vista. You also need to have some connection to the internet on your computer. Normally this is over Wlan. So this is the setup in ASCII art: Pineapple[POE/Ethernet]<- - - - - - - - - >[Ethernet port]Your Computer[Network interface facing internet]<- - - - - - - - - - - - >Internet It doesn't matter how you get internet access on your computer, as long as it is through an interface that supports ICS. I hope this helps clearing things up a bit. Best, Sebkinne

TrophyTruck
Also, I thought I saw a post showing me how to rename the device so, it doesn't show up as Pineapple on wireless searches.
