big_daddy
First of all I want to thank you for all your work on this project. I have two questions: Is there a way to keep it from creating empty folders for each song? This is for Pandora, not sure about the other plugins. Is there a way to minimize SProxy to the system tray? I have the icon in the system tray, but it is still visible in the task bar. Thanks, Bob
ZigZagJoe
First of all I want to thank you for all your work on this project. I have two questions: Is there a way to keep it from creating empty folders for each song? This is for Pandora, not sure about the other plugins. Is there a way to minimize SProxy to the system tray? I have the icon in the system tray, but it is still visible in the task bar. Thanks, Bob You'll need to go into the advanced config and set MinimizeToTray to "True". For some reason i changed the control, and forgot to tie that setting a while ago, so the result is what you see. As for the empty folders, no, not with the current version. Noted and fixed here though. TF: The first log failed because you didn't start a new GS session when you started SProxy (with saver2, etc) or otherwise cause GS to get the metadata from the server so the plugin could get the info from it. Since the flash player already knew of the song data, it could request it straight away, but the plugin isn't privy to that info, so that happened. thaeds
I am using Pandora One, and I frequently get the "It's taking longer than expected to find the perfect song to play next" timeout. I downloaded about 70 gigs before I started getting this error, but now I get it all the time (when in turbo mode). It lasts for hours. You guys get this too? Can anything be done about it? ZigZagJoe
FEATURE REQUEST: First off - great work, I have only used PandoraSaver before, but I am going to start testing Saver2 shortly. Secondly, the feature request. I would like to be able to automatically give feedback to Pandora (Thumbs up/Thumbs down) even when I am not at the computer. This will obviously be driven off of a song list (preferably one keyed by file name). That way the files already on the hard drive can be evaluated even when not running Pandora and it then Pandroa will be "told" of the rating changes the next time the same song plays. Hope you can work this in a future release. Thanks for all of the hard work. Ish. Will send an email. Sorry, i must've forgotten about your post - I've been very busy with work at the moment. Frankly, there's not really a good way to implement something like that (use a list of filenames)- however, i do have something that might work. I've been working on a pandora client, and it has the ability to seed stations (like the pandora flash client, but faster). With a little bit of adaptation, i *THINK* this may be able to make it so you could fabricate feedback requests.. However, this depends on if the feedback request can be sent without anything but the song ID. i think it needs some special tags from the song info, only provided in fragment requests, though. If this is the case, it can't be done either way. Maybe mark for defered feedback or something if the song comes up again, but that's not really reliable by any means. Yeah, it needs some extra info, which i have no way of retrieving. I am using Pandora One, and I frequently get the "It's taking longer than expected to find the perfect song to play next" timeout. (press alt-printscr, go to paint, ctrl-v, save as JPG, upload to tinypic or use hak5 attachment) When, if, it happens again, I will for sure. Strangely it seems to be working perfectly now after being temperamental this week. I feel like it happened when I had some errors, and then it somehow disabled the pandora addon by its self... I re-enabled it yesterday and it's smooth sailing since.

Yeah, this is to prevent message spam. Unfortunately there is no way i can tell the pandora flash client to roll over and die so disabling was the next best option. Usually waiting an hour fixes what you describe, but i can't be sure

Yeah, it needs some extra info, which i have no way of retrieving. I'm sorry. I guess I didn't explain what I am asking for well enough. The "deferred feedback" is what I am asking for. Basically, you can think about it in two sessions: First session: All songs are new - no feedback - PandoraSaver saves all songs to disk. In between sessions: User listens to the songs and grades them using the player/device/etc of their choice. When finished, generate a list of filenames (one for thumbs up, one for thumbs down). Second session: As songs are played, right when the PandoraSaver app is currently logging: Matched audio URL: http://audioblahblah Got Song: Eagle-Eye Cherry-"Save Tonight" on "Desireless" Cached albumArt: http://blahblah File Already Exists! Done processing Song. I would hope that it could also be changed to: Matched audio URL: http://audioblahblah Got Song: Eagle-Eye Cherry-"Save Tonight" on "Desireless" Cached albumArt: http://blahblah File Already Exists! >Checking for feedback lists >Sending positive feedback Done processing Song. Notice the two added lines. I would think it would be EASY to send feedback while the song is playing - which is what led me to suggest the feature. I'm not into making other peoples life difficult. :) The positive feedback really isn't my concern, what is really driving this is the fact that I want to send NEGATIVE feedback. Your application already has blacklists (which prevent a song from being downloaded again) -- but I don't want Pandora to even PLAY it if I've already graded it and found it lacking. Yes, I understand that this solution will only work if the song is queued up again, but my experience with Pandora is that doesn't take too long. Hope this helps clarify things. Again, thanks for all of your hard work.
bulletp2000
I also have another question about how the existing App works. There is a choice that states - Tag Files: Never, When Ripped, Always. I assumed that "When Ripped" meant the first time the song was downloaded and converted into an MP3. This is the setting that I am currently using. But the file-date times are changing even on existing MP3's that were previously downloaded. Is this what you would expect? Am I just mis-understanding this choice? Using PandoraSaver V.1.008d And as always: Your application ROCKS! A big thank you for your time.

That was for PS (1) which i had made several changes (mostly adding/fixing metadata) in which case some of the older files I had were missing metadata, so i wanted to update where possible. Also, if you are not using encoding or blacklists, i highly recommend you make the switch to (pandora) saver2 which is what this thread is for. As for dates changing, i don't know. Can't recall if PS1 said Tagging file or not.

bulletp2000
>I also have another question about how the existing App works. >There is a choice that states - Tag Files: Never, When Ripped, Always. >I assumed that "When Ripped" meant the first time the song was downloaded and >converted into an MP3. This is the setting that I am currently using. But the file-date times >are changing even on existing MP3's that were previously downloaded. Is this what you would expect? >Am I just mis-understanding this choice? >Using PandoraSaver V.1.008d >And as always: >Your application ROCKS! A big thank you for your time. Don't bother with it - leave it as when ripped. My apologies for posting on the wrong thread - I kind of assumed the PS thread was dead - but my mistake. I need the encoding feature, so I cannot move to Saver2 yet. As for the file-date changing issue, PS1.008 logs a line to the log about "tagging file" while PS1.005 does not. PS1.008 changes the file-date time of existing files while PS1.005 does not. I assume this has to do with the re-work from Fiddler to SProxy. Unfortunately, I consider this to be a change for the worse because I use the file-date stamp as an indicater of what music is new and needs to be reviewed. With the latest code base (1.008) it makes ALL of my music look new. I have temporarily moved BACK (*sigh*) to the 1.005 release of PS1 because this change messes up my whole system. I know the PS code base is frozen, but . . . As another enhancement request to Saver2 (THIS THREAD) -- could you please have a checkbox indicating whether or not to edit tags in files that are already present? Thank you for your time. Tags aren't edited on existing files, period, in S2. Feature isn't needed. Also, 1.008 should generate a newmusik.m3u playlist. Rename it when you are reviewing new music, and it will start making a new one.
unclejim
I have been Pandora Timeshifting with you guys for years now and you never cease to amaze me with your programmins skills. I wish I could help, but it's just not in my skill set. I started using PS2 yesterday and it is performing flawlessly. Thanks. Quick question though: I have been using a remote desktop application that has now stopped connecting. Coincidence or related? If somebody can tell me if they are possible related, I'll take it from there. Thanks again for the hard work you put in on this. A donation to the cause is on the way. Possible - what sort of error does the remote desktop app get? check it doesn't have a proxy configured in its settings. Also try closing sproxy and checking IE's proxy settings. Think i might have to add a button to fix IE settings, seeing as this seems to be a commonish error :S (IE getting proxy stuck) Also, thanks for the donation :) I have updated the download link with the new version of the Pandora saver plugin with the built in pandora client. zzj.itf-inc.com /downloads/Saver2Beta2.zip (OUTDATED SEE MAIN POST) To use either launch sproxy and select launch pandora client or run pandora.exe. NOTE: if you use pandora.exe, you can't save songs (saver2/sproxy is not running).

Nevertheless, f*cking amazing app. Thanks a lot for the slacker support! +Donate :) Yeah - either check set as IE proxy in SProxy settings OR you can try to get browserPAC working with IE (I never got it to work properly). after checking this, restart sproxy and the browser(s) and it should work. Glad you like it :)

MaxRabbit
Okay, it does work now! However, I have an even bigger problem. Whenever I don't have SProxy launched, Chrome and IE refuse to go to any website. Even if I uncheck the box and restart SProxy, they won't work! ZigZagJoe
Okay, it does work now! However, I have an even bigger problem. Whenever I don't have SProxy launched, Chrome and IE refuse to go to any website. Even if I uncheck the box and restart SProxy, they won't work! Ugh, i'll have to see what's going wrong here. Go to internet settings, connections, lan settings, with SProxy closed, and uncheck use proxy server. Oh god i'm an idiot - found why it didn't work. It was only set to restore proxy settings if you had a proxy configured before - if it had default values (off), it did nothing. I've updated the zip with a new sproxy.exe. Replace yours with it and it will set and unset proxies properly. How to fix IE and other apps not working when sproxy not running: Then update SProxy.exe from the normal link. I'm new to current ver; can't get turbo working.
