  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Power...gers_characters Power Rangers went through so many changes, perhaps if they just stuck with vanilla Power Rangers then it wouldn't be so lame.

If you browse the member list and look at the locations you will se Hak.5 has quite a global audience. http://www.hak5.org/forums/memberlist.php Me? I'm from the land of the long white cloud.
  3. Try disabling any firewalls you have running. As for local policy check that remote file and registry access is enabled. Also make sure the ForceGuest security setting is disabled or else all connections will be forced to use guest credentials.
  4. The update says the Feds won't release any information until he appears in court on Monday. Seems rather strange, only thing I can think of is maybe he access to databases of personal information he shouldn't have had, or atleast the Feds think he does. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
  5. The ARIN database says the IP is part of a block owned by a Hawaiian Telecom Company situated in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. Yet the location you have listed for your username here states that your from Fort McMurray which as far as I know is located in Alberta, Canada. This seems rather suspicious to me, unless you routinely commute between Canada and Hawaii. Well you also have "/Azeroth", but as far as I know Azeroth doesn't have any ISPs... EDIT: Judging by your signature and things in your profile like "WoW Addict" I would also have to say your favourite game is World of Warcraft.
  6. If you are looking for Remote Administration then the various flavours of VNC or RDP/Terminal Services are more than adequate. However from the wording of your post I gather you are looking for something a little less ethical and likely very illegal. While I know that many people here including myself walk the line of morality very carefully I highly doubt anyone here will be willing to help you with what you are seeking. I'm not quite sure what lead you to believe these forums would be a receptive ear for your request. If you are looking for an instant just add water type "hack" to get into your friends computer then I suggest you go elsewhere. Any semi-intelligent "n00b" with a few VB(or other easy language) tutorials can whip up a trojan type program rather quickly, I know because I used to be one of them when I was younger. I guess it was a good step for me, I discovered I enjoyed programming more than ejecting some idiots cdrom tray. If and when you get over this "phase" and start to seek a zenlike understanding of computer security, then I suggest that you become good friends with google and start to ask informed questions.
  7. Not a single mention of The Gibson or Zero Cool? Guess it could be worth watching then. Although it does seem they've missed alot of the notable hackerish people... I guess this will be a wait and see thing. If it turns out to be total crap atleast I've still got Freedom Downtime. :P
  8. http://hak5.org/wiki/index.php?title=USB_Goodies http://portableapps.com/ http://www.portablefreeware.com/ http://www.dirk-loss.de/win-tools.htm Why on earth would you suggest getting a U3 drive? Before U3 launched I was hyped up about it, but it's turned out to be a huge disappointment. Now with U3 I can do what I was already doing on my flash drive and it will cost me more money...
  9. Doesn't support many games? Did you look at the database? Cedega supports hundreds of games and you can vote on what games you want support for or want support improved on. All the popular mainstream games are usually officially supported and run relatively bug free. As far as I know VMware only has a virtual 2D graphics card, which would mean absolutely zero 3D acceleration.
  10. I use Nero 7, sure Nero 6 did everything I want but I haven't encountered any problems with Nero 7 that aren't easy to fix. If you pay attention during install or go into the options you can easily disable all the file associations and integration with windows etc.
  11. As was mentioned by stringwray, check out Cedega(formely WineX) at http://www.transgaming.com Cedega has come a long way in recent years, it supports most games but you do have to be prepared for a few kinks on your way to gaming heaven. Older games such as Counterstrike etc will run pretty much perfectly through Cedega. But newer games experiance quite a few problems until the bugs are worked out with emulating them. Your biggest issue with Cedega is not going to be the buggy menus and glitchy graphics in the latest game, it will be performance. These games aren't running in their natural environment so you will need a decent computer and especially a rather good graphics card if you intend to be hitting anywhere close to the FPS you get in windows. I'm an ATI fanboy but if your serious about gaming through Cedega then your best investing in a high range Nvidia card, as ATI's Linux support is still rather lacking where performance is concerned. You can check out the compatibility of games with Cedega in their database: http://transgaming.org/gamesdb/ BF2, WoW and WC3 are all officially supported by Cedega, so this means the all have pretty good compatibility and you can easily get help in running them. Half-Life 2 is officially supported, but CS:S is not, considering they're the same engine I imagine CS:S support is pretty good, haven't tried the source engine through Cedega myself.
  12. Jsut to clear up any confusion, WinFS was dropped from Vista along time ago, but only recently was all development on WinFS dropped. WinFS is no more, but M$ has said the work that has been done will be used to improve current file systems. By that I presume they mean we will be getting NTFS with a new coat of paint. It's certainly not news that the competitors have been way ahead of M$ in file system development for a long time.
  13. Like a video game they say... Well how many times in a video game have you guys died from lag? from friendly fire? from some n00b jumping in the gun turret of your hummvee who shoots the walls all the time to let the enemy know your coming when your trying to sneak around the back? The only thing this system is mising is VoIP communication between the US and insurgent forces so they can call each other n00bs.
  14. I'm certainly no .htaccess guru, but I don't think it is capable of redirecting users based on their IP, although it can block users based on IP. I believe you may have to whip up a small php/cgi/etc script to do it. EDIT: Well I guess you could just block them and use custom error pages...
  15. If it's something that I will need to access regularly or it's rather important/sensitive then it's in a disguised Truecrypt(http://www.truecrypt.org/) volume, I don't use a hidden volume inside this as plausible deniability isn't too much of an issue. Inside this volume is a rather confusing directory structure (a relic from when I was alot younger and thought encryption was only used by evil Nazi's on their submarines). The personal information stored there isn't very revealing, I don't have whole passwords there, only portions of the password or a hint to remind me of the password. Theres backup's of a few MYSQL databases, bookmarks, logs etc there too. Oh and a few passwords to things I shouldn't have passwords too. None of it is really worth anything to most people unless you know what your looking for and what it looks like. Apart from the Truecrypt volume theres nothing sensitive stored on my computer at all. I do however have a USB flash drive, I use the manufacturer's solution to prevent access as opposed to Truecrypt here though. Although only thing that's sensitive on it is Portable Firefox with all its bookmarks, cached passwords etc. There might be some NetStumbler sessions, music or whatever on there depending on what I have been doing recently, but usually that's not too sensitive. I am not particularly concerned about someone gaining access to my computer and getting my data I'm more concerned about them intercepting my sensitive data in transit or my data being stolen from a third party that is storing it. An E-Commerce server with 10000 credit card numbers on it sure looks alot more tasty than some average Joe's Windows 98 machine with his 1 credit card number and his wife's muffin recipes.
  16. It was on a website that listed Tech Related IPTV shows but I'm not sure which list, I got the link to the list from the Binrev forums.
  17. Do you really need two keyboards? Most keyboards come with software to set up keyboard profiles, I'm sure there is third party software to do it if your keyboard is a generic one. In a few clicks or a press of a hot key you could change from your normal windows profile to your Matrix Online profile that has macros assigned to the keys.
  18. I'm fairly certain you can only run x86 operating systems in VMware Workstation. Well you can run 64 bit operating systems in a VM if you have a 64 bit cpu, but I guess 64 bit is an instruction set extension as opposed to another architecture.
  19. Technoweeny? God that movie was bad... well it's a good comedy... Google Virgin? Seems most people don't know how to search Whats the point in comming up with a new word to flame n00bs etc with when most of them haven't mastered the basics of English yet? They're just going to get even more confused.
  20. Yeah it's typically done by loading up PHPMyAdmin and then handing the keyboard to a rabid baboon. The baboon then mashes the keyboard and with his superior intelligence he manages to drop only those SQL tables and rows which he feels are of poor quality. EDIT: If you only have VMWare Player then you can try this to boot ISOs: http://www.hackaday.com/entry/1234000153064739/ EDIT AGAIN: Irongeek also has a video demonstrating booting LiveCDs in VMware player: http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=videos/vmwareplayerlivecd
  21. *hangs head in shame* I apologise I clicked reply before you had posted, I require 7 days notice in writing of all future schemes to clense the forums. :P
  22. That depends on what you mean by "running" it, if you want to access an ISO image like you would a cdrom in your drive then you can mount it with an application like Daemon Tools: http://www.daemon-tools.cc However if your talking about a Live/Bootable CD such as Knoppix then you will need to run it in a virtual machine that supports mounting ISO images. One virtual machine application that is user friendly and I know for sure is capable of booting an ISO image is VMware: http://www.vmware.com
  23. To me it seems like they just gave MSN 7.0 a Vista style appearance, none of the new features are useful to me personally. It's still just as bloated as it's always been. If only everyone I needed to contact would lurk in IRC instead...
  24. As far as I know the SATA standard has always supported hot-swapping drives. Although the standard supports it there may be several SATA drives/controllers that don't support it or have problems in implementing it and may need newer drivers. All of the SATA drives/controllers I've owned have always supported hot-swapping.
  25. AmigaOS 1.x I'll take Guru Meditation over BSODs anyday. :P
