  1. As sslstrip breaks the webui of the pineapple by redirecting all port 80 traffic to a alternate port (by default 10000) is it possible to change the port the webui runs on? I've got a feeling this may be as simple as changing a line in the http config file, but wanted feedback first! I know this will also break the hosting of phishing pages but not much use to run sslstrip + phishing Pages anyway! Any ideas anyone?
  2. @Mr protocol I think it might be openwrt 'failsafe' mode but I don't know much else about other then its something to do with the reset button and it doesn't work with every router.
  3. before you begin your serial flash i would read both: http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?showtopic=26726 and http://forums.hak5.org/index.php?showtopic=26710 and i personally would recommend getting this USB-UART adaptor: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=271002070271 and do not plug in the vcc cable on the serial connector, only use the 12v power (i.e you only need to connect rx/tx/gnd)
  4. I use a plastic ABS case from maplin (UK company) which is pretty tough, not waterproof but still can stand a good drop without much damage. just use some foam inside to protect the internals during a drop.
  5. When you say terminal do you mean in the putty serial connection? sounds like you have either: 1) logged in via telnet and are trying to issue the commands 2) logged in via SSH and are trying to issue the commands 3) haven't choosen a option from the u-boot options and have let it continue to boot to the alfa firmware as mr protocol has suggested
  6. It seems easier to just buy a usb to uart, its only £4,00 (about $5?) and even if you don't use it its always good to have incase of a brick!
  7. The AP121u don't always have openwrt, I was had one with a custom alfa firmwaré which required a clean flash. Just to warn you!
  8. does the hakshop one not Power it all?
  9. 239usd? How many hornets did you buy??
  10. I only have a 3g modem and 4gb sandisk fit plugged into a small hub which onlys powers from the pineapple usb, not bothered with the alfa usb wifi yet, as they don't autostart and begin wifi teathering etc from boot, although the deauth etc would be useful, I mostly just rely on been the strongest signal and getting clients.
  11. Brilliant! How Much life do you get with a usb stick plugged in?
  12. @Ted summers, Have you connected the pineapple to the astro3 with the DC coupler from the 12v output? Does the package come with a usb cable suitable to plug into the pineapple?
  13. It doesn't seem to be seeing your usb stick, also have you configured swap? You might need it to run sslstrip. Try formating it as per darrens guide again.
  14. Maybe if you post your fstab from the webui and the output of df -h from the terminal it might help solve the problem. Have you added usb as a install location in the opkg.conf(think that's what its called)
  15. I also see karma'd versions of secure networks but a lot of people wouldn't realise the significance of secure wireless vs open wireless and would connect to a ssid they reconise regardless. The usefulness of been able to change the pineapples default broadcast ssid to a custom one is also underestimated, I've had many clients connect on the old mk3 without karma, purely because the default ssid looks good, something like 'campus wifi' or 'free wifi' Normally gets hipsters really excited.
  16. have you already got ssh access to it? you should be able to just use the Freifunk AP51 Easy Flash utility. see: http://hak5.org/hack/wifi-pineapple-flashing-guide power it from a wall socket and don't unplug it, it might seem to be frozen sometimes but it will be fine, use the correct files too, and you can use the mk3 software, but not mk4 (different chipset or something)
  17. I have also managed to get a MF637 (unlocked) working with three UK, however i need to dig up the settings as i forgot to backup after doing a upgrade to my pineapple. I am going to try a giffgaff sim card in it next week as they seem to be fairly cheap for mobile broadband.
  18. sounds good! make sure you don't flash on battery power though! how long did your serial board take to arrive, it said dispatched from manchester, but ebay emailed me at 3am to say it had been dispatched, i didn't order it till 11pm so not sure how they possibly could post it at 3am! make sure you don't plug in the 3.3v vcc and the power plug at the same time, might fry it!
  19. see the post i put earlier about the AP121u i have, in either telnet or ssh i did a uname -a and it gave me info about the firmware been a linux based one, but not openwrt, see if you can type ipkg and if it says 'not found' pretty sure that would mean its a customised alfa firmware. probarly best to do a clean flash anyway!
  20. I also had one from jpgottech, which fried when i plugged it in, hadn't even cracked out the serial cable. Anton, you can flash the factory files which are OpenWRT, and then use the latest upgrade.bin and scp it to tmp and issue "sysupgrade -n -v /tmp/sysupgrade.bin"
  21. yea, the hornet-ub is cool for a enclosure, but its more fun to have the AP121u to take out and about. I am going to buy one of those serial cables you recommended, just to see if mine is dodgy, failing that i'm sending it back and saving to buy a hakshop one!
  22. not sure, i got mine from crucial wifi, and i have a hornet-ub which came with openWRT preinstalled from data alliance.
  23. yep, powering on fine, i can telnet and ssh in, but as seb suggested i think it isn't running openwrt, i have tried another usb port, and have tried two laptops. Its a bit of a puzzle, i have even tried different cables from the uart adaptor to the router to make sure it isn't a dodgy cable.
  24. yea, i thought that so tried it in windows too, with putty, still the same thing, tried installing drivers, uninstalling drivers, turned off firewall and antivirus just incase it made any difference, and still nothing.
  25. I have two, one which was linked in a thread from ebay, and one that was a freebee from jpgottech, who have previously tested it on the AP121u. still nothing on serial, i can't understand it!
