  1. is there a guide somewhere on the internet that tells you how to use mediawiki. Tried google already. something that describes how to make pages and how wikipedia works. voting, jargon etc
  2. Moonlit you are my hero!!!
  3. haha is that going to be there for another 24 hours until everyone's DNS chache gets flushed
  4. i think uncyclopedia.org tries to be funny, whereas http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/ is just plain rude and obnoxious without also being funny
  5. i've wasted a number of hours just recently on this website http://uncyclopedia.org I just wanted to know. Anybody know how long it's been around. This is the largest body of work of its kind that i have seen in my life. I find it absolutely amazing that quite obviously a very large amount of work has been put into a body of useless unfactual and often stupid and idiotic information. It is most certainly the most amazing thing on the internet. As well as that, i notice that the guys who make the site are really experienced wikimedia users.
  6. It's called stay off the warez and the pr0n sites and you'll be fine
  7. i don't have a myspace, but everyone who does should die. I think that should be made into a law, that it's ok to kill a myspace user. I got a youtube account once ...so i could look at the dirty videos  that was before i found bugmenot, and before i realised youtube = myspace + video uploads. i feel so dirty anybody know how to cancel a youtube account
  8. #knet, #hak5, #debian EDIT: i just remebered, #Garda as well, (how could i possibly forget)
  9. Yea, it's a shame. I also read OpenBSD is in serious money troubles. A double shame since OpenSSH which came from the OpenBSD project is used in so many places. I don't know how much of all of this is exactly true, but OpenBSD is a really great product, (have no experience with NetBSD) and is quite popular, hopefully something will be worked out.
  10. Colbert is going to win the voting competition. But they're not going to give it to him. How embarrasing would it be to have a hungarian bridge named after an american TV personality. It's SO just not going to happen.
  11. if you're a grown adult and you find yourself in a tumble dryer, and in immediate danger, do you really think that you would be intelligent enough of a human being to be able to operate a lever. Seriously, who, except for a baby who can't help it, would find themselves in a dryer. :P
  12. an update, cos i've been following this http://www.m0hid.gov.hu/toplista the above url takes you to the hungarian website that shows the short list of names. Stephen Colbert has 55% of the votes. The most interesting are 3rd and 4th, which kinda describe how they got there. The first legitimate candidate is Pató Pál híd, i think anyway, it looks hungarian. With 4% of the votes.
  13. i don't have an ipod either. but that's just cos i can't afford one. (i'm trying to save up for a laptop) ipods are cool, they're a fashion icon. I've seen some of the other offerings and i think that as far as functionality goes that their rivals have for the most part either caught up or surpassed them. Apple will own the music player market, certainly for the near future at least. Nothing else is as cool as an ipod. Also, their music, DRMed to hell like it is, is only playable on 1 ipod. Nobody is going to pay $1 per song to get their whole collection back. (they might use this tool however )
  14. What do you pay for in a motherboard. I've built computers in the past, i know what a motherboard is, but what purpose is there in buying a more expensive motherboard. My problem is that hard drives for example are pretty easy to make sence of. There is obviously the amount they hold, their spin rate, the amounth of cache memory, and their interface SATA and SATAII are a little more expensive than the old IDE. This is nice an simple. It's usually a pretty simple to find the best value (to be simple, divide storage size by cost, which seems to leave 250GB as the best option) In the case of a motherboard, I would imagine that you would look for the different on-board features they have. ie, no. of USB ports, onboard sound and video (which tend to be kinda crappy), whether they support raid, etc. What else is there that i may want to be looking for?
  15. Are you suggesting that i throw YOU in a dryer ...if you insist, it doesn't really bother me
  16. i so don't believe this. You won't read anything more random all day Some guy put a baby in a tumble dryer, for "a fun time" http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=121004
  17. Garda

    Linux distro

I like debian, so i'm gonna recommend it.
  18. haha impudent sounds like impotent
  19. mabey you should try http://openoffice.org ...and a long holiday
  20. Ok, i just realised something less lame than the thing i mentioned before. Every application i need i have on a usb stick. This includes Firefox, Thunderbird, putty, vlc, 7zip, gaim, a sega and SNES emulator, Lynx and a VNC client
  21. I was thinking about this and thought you guys might have some amusing stories. Mine would probably not really be anything amazing. Basically the most impressive thing is getting AES-loop to work with debian. It took about an hour, cos i'm dumb, then after getting it working i found a website with somebody who already had a patched kernel that you can easily just install with dpkg. :(
  22. don't despair melodic, hak5 is still good nobody takes the piss out of mormons better than john safran see extreme mormons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXOh4g_FLIM too bad i couldn't find a clip from when he went door knocking on mormon's doors early in the morning trying to convert them to atheism
  23. Is there something wrong with me that i just use the ftp shell command for ftp sites, and wget for large files?
  24. i change my desktop all of the time, mostly depending on my mood. For the most part GNOME is my favourite. KDE is annoying. XFCE is my favourite of the lightweight desktops though, even though it's perhaps not quite that minimalistic
