  1. for the rumble pack. I would say look into vibrating motors at your local electronics shop, even radioshack i believe sells them, and its just a motor you power, if i am not mistaken. for the solved part, I dont know, i guess edit the first post and say solution found in thread. or something like that.
  2. one thing to keep in mind is that (unless I am mistaken) the original Pineapple made you connect to it as if it was a network that you knew, like your home wireless network. so that would be the ssid, I may be wrong on that. but if that is true you could make a script that would check for stuff like that, that if you where not at home and you where getting an outer ip address that is not your home outer ip address then you flag the network and get off. if that make sense.
  3. This reminds me of the fact that people are stupid and need to learn about technology before they can use it.
  4. My first thought is that you want a blind person to ride a trike? Ignoring that thought, you have a PSOC, and pwm signals, you could try to connect via a one to one connection with wifi. now I dont know what they have for PSOC boards but I would imagine that you could find some sort of wifi module for it. and from there just make an app or something for the phone that could translate the data from the wifi connection.
  5. anything in the smart phone family can do this, i think they state that in the video , but as long as you know how to turn settings off then you should be okay. the major thing is to know what your phone is doing at all times, like the meta data in the pictures you take on your smartphone how it says your longitude and latitude when you took that picture. All you need to do is know what is happening when you click a button on the phone. based on my lack of experience of phone but more of just what i have heard I would say go android for the reason of rooting it, but i am not sure if that will give you the control that you need, and I would suggest that before you buy the phone do research into what it can do, and when you get the phone search the features of the phone to the fullest extent that you can.
  6. I don't know the minimum packages needed, but I would say it would be right around where you want you usability to end, so any package that you want to use on your phone and then any package that that package needs so lets say you want package A and Package A needs x,y, and z, then you need all 4. So start looking there.
  7. ya doesn't show for me either, which makes me more curious...Well played.
  8. it looks cool but looking at the price of 1650 i think it said, i dont think i would buy it. I understand the benefit of it being small but i think it would be better to go I7 custom build....maybe, I know people will buy it for the size but.
  9. I dont think that this is going to provide the air cooling that you want. because what is going to happen is that you will be pulling 80 or 90 degree air across your server....and this will cause heat no matter what, What you may want to do is if you using fans, u could make it like a vacuum since, if I am not mistaken, you can have a fan intake against a wall with no airflow and just have the air outflow open...then what you may want to do is put the fans on the back and force the air to come up from the bottom and with that dont allow air to come from the top or the sides just the bottom so that if you cut that inflow off it would be like a vacuum in a way in which the inside heat would continually leave, or have the bottom open and cause cooler air from the floor to move through the entire case....Just a thought.
  10. wait didnt you already post this http://www.hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=20076
  11. You mean the one from a couple seasons ago? That was a network switch if I recall correctly it was the Napera N24. http://www.napera.com/ that was from episode 501, browsing their site right now they seem to be set up differently.
  12. I don't think that is needed. I think as long as your conscious about where you buy from. Also I don't Japan is exporting that much right now. I think That the stock in the stores at the moment is also what was there before everything went to crap over in Japan.
  13. Here is a thought if you have the iso. I haven't tried this but this seems about right. http://maketecheasier.com/boot-and-install-windows-7-from-usb-flash-drive/2009/01/23
  14. You can boot windows 7 from flash drive. and is it that the disk is just not bootable from the getgo or is it that it just isnt booting? and when you install windows 7 on a harddrive with a grub loader it removes the grub loader I believe or it atleast just removes the reference to grub, I just did that on my machine and had to reinstall ubuntu 10.10 wasnt annoying because i didnt have anything in ubuntu substantial but still.
  15. Have you tried http://projecteuler.net/? or is that not what direction you wanted to go?
  16. everything really, I just let pandora go on whatever sounds good and when that is all saved onto the computer i just shuffle through it, and alot of skips. really it is everything, like from rock to techno to just hiphop, some rap. everything, normally not classical unless i am writing a paper.
  17. Like Phil said, just google and you should find what you are looking for, or atleast start to understand what you are looking for. make sure you know what you want to do on simplest terms and go from there.
  18. if you watch episode 718 Darren talks about building your own router. I don't think your going to want to get a 1u server, while it will work, the size is a little big at least in width and depth. what you could do is if you have an old computer you could use that, or you could build your own. I would suggest for the sake of minimizing as many bottle necks in the system as possible using gigabit cards. watch the episode and you will get a better idea. But my only suggestion really is gigabit cards and some form of a computer based router. If the 1u servers have gigabit and thats what seems cheapest go with it, but if they don't I would say look around. But watch the episode and then look around. haha
  19. @entity - I think that you could send data along radios like that. It would be interesting, you would have to watch what channels you would use. you would also have the issue of multiple people sending data at the same time. you would have to take it from basic communication to a new level. imagine it as if 500 people try to talk into the same room. even if you say what name to send it to data can still get criss-crossed. you would need to have to have a way to decipher what is meant for you and what is not, and the data all has to be on different levels. It would definitely be interesting because I don't think there is enough channels for everyone to have one. You would also have to have regulators what you would like connect via one channel and the regulator would say use this channel to talk. but still even with that you would have issues of multiple people talking to connect. There is a way to do it on a small scale. and In any case people can still have networks, and with that just interconnect your networks to make a wide area network. -Cgront
  20. I think it was just people not using the reputation system. I think your reputation is better now. I didnt know of the reputation system until you brought my attention to it. And I did Like all the suggestions on the Post.
  21. Also at this point i am using virtual box, because that is just what i had installed, if someone can also give me a good reason to switch to proxmox or VMware that is fine.
  22. At this point I have an xp machine set up, I am going to duplicate it a couple of times. and make each copy different, depending on updates, and firewall settings and such. I am Still trying to figure this all out. My only fear is that people will get over whelmed an decide not to do it.
  23. It was also suggested to my by another source to use this idea, but to have like 4 or 5 VM's, each one progressively harder to hack and each one holding a file which is part of a puzzle, first person to get all files and put answer puzzle wins. So it takes Infiltrator's idea to a little bit of a further Idea. My issue now is what kind of operating systems should I have as the Vm's. I have right now an XP and a Vista VM. I am thinking about windows server 2003, and 2008. And if there are any other ideas that would be great. @digininja your idea is interesting but I think that would take me a longer time to set up and I dont think i would have the time. @Infiltrator your second idea about social engineering may be useful for this, i may look into trying to incorporate this but If time does not allow me to, as long as I first focus on the VM's and network setup to begin with I should be fine.
  24. So I am trying to get ideas on what to do for a hacker challenge I want to have at my University. I have already figured out that I have to run this on a private network, off of my core2quad. And the event is going to be at a LAN party at my University. I have 2 problems at this point: 1> I don't know what to have the challenge be. Should I have it be like capture the flag with a couple virtual servers running or should I have each person have a virtual machine and some form of a file(flag) on each desktop like the Hak5 hacker challenge? 2>here the bigger issue. The University I am at does not teach a lot of exploitation to students. The students at my University don't have more then a basic knowledge of hacking if even that, we have a lot of students that understand a lot about computers and programming and networks and operating systems, but not everything put together and used for hacking. My plan was to have an information session on metasploit/armitage before the event that way people knew how to use it and at least tried. another thought that i was given by people was to either have teams depending on how many people wanted to do it. I need some input on this, I am going to be trying to figure out a setup for the cor2quad this weekend and see how much it can even handle and go from there, any input would be greatly appreciated.
