larynx
Does anybody know about any way (theoretical/practical) to restore a drive that was wiped with DBAN using a PRNG Stream (Mersenne twister with 8 rounds)?

larynx
Oh, so there is a way... Isn't there any high-end device that can be used to restore from such a wipe? or a service offered by any company? any paper that has been written an a theoretical way of accomplishing such a thing? Just want to make sure.
K1u
turn back time? LOL! @original topic You really have to understand that basically the reason that wipe was done the way it was, is to make it so no one can restore it. I mean its not impossible I hope but I certainly know absolutely no way of doing it.
VaKo
You can get it back by using an electron microscope to scan the surface of the disk or a very sensitive magnetic sensor.

SomeoneE1se
you don't dban something by mistake it would seem more likely that he WANTS to destory the data but if you did mistakenly dban your drive and didn't want to...[me=SomeoneE1se]points and laughs![/me]
moonlit
Well then no, it's generally not possible perhaps unless you have very very very expensive equipment, and even then it'd be touch and go.
larynx
OK, thanks. Just to make sure I'll search for a time machine on eBay and see if I get lucky.
deleted
Its probably easier to Recreate Every Single file on that drive again, bit by bit.
