mazmac24
I took out my cpu to see if I could upgrade it. After that, it never worked. I'm sure I din't staticize it but its posible. It happened on two computers. Is there something you need to do when putting a cpu back in cause it put it in right cause there is only one way to put it in. Thanks. moonlit
Oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear. Oh dear, oh dear, oh*slaps himself* Yeah, it's not certain but there's a fair chance you're gonna need a new CPU...
Sparda
mmm... how hard did you have to pull to get the thing out?
Jester
Agreed with moonlit. Take out the CPU and make sure none of the pins are bent. It may be possible to bend the pins back and HOPE that it will work. 8)
mazmac24
I know. I'm looking for a new set of a motherboard and cpu. Its in another thread like ten below this one.
mazmac24
Im sure the pins arent bent. Could a problem be that i scrated the motherboard when trying to take the heatsink off? Cause that was pretty tought the first time/.
moonlit
Yeah it you scratch a trace on the mobo then it could be the mobo that's dead (and possibly the CPU as a result...)...
Atari6502
Ouch. Im always nervous about scraping the board. I like the heatsinks with the lever for adding pressure. I got one or two from ThermalTake.
Dankiswess
If you scratched the mobo, chances are that's the problem. I dropped a screwdriver on one once trying to put a new heat synch on. Needless to say, kiss that mobo good bye!
