armadaender
Truly _EVERYTHING_ is expensive with Fiber, isn't it? For the average budget, yes. But once cat-6 replaces cat-5 consumerly and fiber starts being developed by more companies, the prices will lower (basic economics). For the average user, cat-6 will do the trick. For someone who's running mutiple servers, voip, etc (like metatron's kick-ass set-up) then fiber would be almost necessary to handle much data. stingwray
Teaming ethernet pipes if fun if you have the hardware to do it. Its a lot cheaper than fibre and you can get greater than 1Gbps speeds.
metatron
I need 10Gbps and I can get 24-Core Fibre Optic Multimode OM3 50/125 Tight-Buffer Cable at a relatively low cost (You have to buy in bulk of at least 200m to get a good price). Damn, I'll stick with cat-6. Streams all of my audio/video files just fine.
rFayjW98ciLoNQLDZmFRKD
I looked into fiber, but the exra cost and all of the afortable cards only go up to 1 GB/s, I'll save my money and use GB ethernet. (Still jelous of the fiber)
