stingwray
Ok, well its fairly well known at the moment on IRC that the Brits are getting absolutely crap download speeds off the torrent for the DVD. We're talking averaging 25KBps max. Personally I am only just approaching 50% complete after 24 hours of solid downloading. Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on here (its not our ISPs throttling torrent traffic or anything like that because other torrents max my connection out easily.) I might be able to get something sorted but I can't until I finish the torrent which looks like it could be another 24 hours. I think it might be an Anti-British Tracker. stingwray
Ok, we have a UK tracker that I have set up which hopefully will help the Brits here. People are using it now, but we need people to add it that have completed the download ideally. The tracker is at: http://www.230volts.co.uk/bt/tracker.php/announce Hopefully this will help things. stingwray
Ok, created a torrent that has the Hak.5 tracker as first, then my tracker as a backup. It was created from the original .torrent file. www.230volts.co.uk/torrent/hak5--best-of-season-one-dvd.rar.torrent Status of UK tracker can also be found at: http://230volts.co.uk/bt/

armadaender
I was having quite a few problems as well back here (45 kbps max when I normally hit 300+) in the states so it may not just be you guys across the pond.
stingwray
Well all the people that started using this tracker got an increase in speed, it managed to get to 100KBps for me stable so I finished it early this morning.
barrytone
Strange... I'm in the UK and got 250kb/sec the whole time. Only half my full speed, but not too bad all the same. Still, thanks!
stingwray
Well perhaps i'm over exagerating on the hak.5 tracker being anti-british, but there have certainly been some problems with it I think.
Darren Kitchen
and now the direct downloads are available on the homepage. this bandwidth bill is going to hurt. =/ grumble
stingwray
Well, next time hopefully things will go more smoothly. Just got to learn from your mistakes and not try to repeat them. Out of interest Darren, what tracker did you setup for the hak.5 one? As i'd like to get to the bottom of this, seeming it seems you had some excellent seeds organised as well. I was using the latest version of broadcast machine, but i think i may have borked the update going from version 20 to the latest. not positive. for the first few hours i had 3 servers pushing out 2 MBps each until they had to stop seeding. um. they werent my servers. :(
armadaender
Ok, I spent a few minutes searching around the site and I cannot find the two replacement files for the DVD. Could someone please point me in the right direction?
stingwray
http://www.hak5.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1705&start=30 Second post, or if they arn't working then you'll probably have to wait until the new release of the dvd, which should hopefully be fully working and tested. stingwray
Probably not VaKo, thanks for doing that while it was needed. I'm sure there will be another thread created when Darren re-releases the DVD on bittorrent again.
