SyntaXe Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Hello guys! I'm new to this hardware hacking scene, but it sounds really exciting! But for using Jasager, do I have to use a Fon+? Or could any other OpenWRT supported device work? Like the Linksys WRT54G. Thanks. Quote
digininja Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 You have to use a device with an Atheros wireless card. The WRTs use Broadcom so no, they won't work. Quote

digininja Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 try the openwrt site, on their list of supported hardware it might mention the wifi chipset Quote
SyntaXe Posted August 6, 2009 Author Posted August 6, 2009 Hi! I just wanted to give out the link of where to find the compatible hardware list, in case someone else is looking for it :) http://oldwiki.openwrt.org/TitleIndex.html#H.html Quote
RobLoos Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 & you don't need a fon +, i gor it running on a normal fon 2200(came with firmware 0.7.2r5) Quote
digininja Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 Apparently there is a new Fon out there that doesn't have an Atheros chipset, not sure which one and haven't come across it yet though. Quote
easycheese Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 The WRT54G V7 has Atheros AR2317 chipset with 2MGs flash memory. Quote
Reeth Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 As i know the new 2.0 is not Supported for Jasager ? Quote
digininja Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Depends what you mean by new. The standard Fon 2.0 works fine with Jasager but there is a very new Fon that does 802.11n which I've heard reports of having a non-Atheros chipset so that won't work. Quote
jdogherman Posted September 6, 2009 Posted September 6, 2009 Yeah the Fon2n will be no good but the Fon2 would still work http://spanish.martinvarsavsky.net/wp-cont...g-y-n-final.png Quote
Dazz Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I'm in Australia so its harder to get my hands on a fon. What other small sized routers are there that will get the job done? Quote
digininja Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Picostations from ubiquity should work and the Bullets are probably also OK. Quote
psydT0ne Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Dazz... im in Australia and got mine from the uk via ebay...it cost me around $60 AUD after shipping etc. Its an expensive proposition compared to costs involved from countries where the fonera lives natively... but it really depends on how much you want one. Rkiver Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I just picked up a fon 2001 model off ebay for €20 including delivery. Mind you the one I was bidding on the day before was sniped at the last minute, so do keep an eye out for them. Quote
