Depends, if it's DHCP, attach it to a router & then do a range scan, if not, just scan a bit, you'll find it ^^ or just start the patching all over, doesn't take that long
for me the reflashing trick works perfect, plug it in your pc via an ethernet cable, start the flashing tool & power on the fon, have some fruit & come back to a working fon ^^
& you got the normal fon 2100 & 2200
the 2200 uses more power but it's less hot apparently .. but i can't seem to run the 2200 off usb :(
got 2 more fons on their way here, hope one of them is a 2100 so i can compare :)
might be a bit.. "morbid", but this would make a good episode for hak5. "recovering from a hack", finding out what went wrong, fixing it, getting things back up, ....
Good job & my hat goes off to you mat
1 question: via twitter matt told us:
"Hak5 was indeed hacked along with all 84 of the other sites on the server being wiped, backups are a month old, rebuilding the server now"
why are the backups a month old?
other then that i'm pretty amazed that after 1 day the entire system is back up :)
thx for the disclosure & warning us of the possible danger
I got the same problem. I would love to get some more classes & start work on getting certified but it's WAAAY above my budget. Luckely i'm getting CCNA at my college, it's not a lot but it's something :)
same here and it works fine with the ALFA usb, sometimes i just can't be bothered shutting down my windows box, restarting in linux,....
make sure to set the vmware NIC in bridged mode so it gets an IP of your DHCP (router) if you want to test your internal network
if you are gonna do any wireless fun.. you'll need a decent card anyway, most internal cards don't cut it
Steam phishing isn't all that popular
more popular are steam password stealers, they are included in many trojan/Rats (remote administration tools)
basicly
don't download "OMG WORKING HACK'S" or anything like that.
most people here are smart enough not to fall for phishing attacks anyway
