  1. Ye most router setups are 192.168.2 or 1, depends on the router type, belkin or linksys and so on.

That will be the internal IP adress and range.

The only reason why it is generally set up as 192.168.x.x is because it is a Class C network with 254 available address which is more than enough for most people.

  2. or you can just buy a freezer and put your pc in it Smile

Wouldn't work, domestic freezes and fridges are designed to cool the objects and then prevent them from getting warm again, not continually remove heat that is being produced. You would find that you freezer would die pretty rapidly.

  3. Is this spam or not? This is the guys first post, and instantly he's posing links to other web sites. Admitadly there is usfull information there... but still rather spam like...

Bit of odd spam if it is. Its kinda written like spam though.

However anyways. Its useful but has been known for a long time, i've been using nlite for ages now.

Its not illegal as long as you don't breach your license, i.e. if you have an oem license then you can install it once at thats your lot, so its impractical for that. Retail might be better, but activation could still be a problem, and getting around that without microsoft is illegal, even with a valid license.

  4. I don't know about corn syrup and sealing the case up, sounds like too much hassle and the syrup part makes me think that it wouldn't be able to remove the heat fast enough.

However people have done it with oil and submerging there components in a old fish tank etc.

You theoretically should be able to do it with pure water, but I could see the water eroding the components and become inpure.

  5. Build your own, it's the only way to fly. Any of the boutique places like Falcon and Alienware overcharge.

They don't overcharge, they are a business that need to pay for overheads and the staff to build the computers.

Also companies do a lot of testing to see which hardware works well with what, you shouldn't get a machine that has compatibility problems from a company that builds them. Compatibility problems are few and far between these days but I have had motherboards that just completely didn't work with some graphics cards and ended out losing because I couldn't send it back faulty because it wasn't.

What you are paying for is piece of mind when you buy a prebuilt computer.

  6. Aluminum cases are for show. Keep that in mind when you decide where to spend your money. They weigh less and contribute close to nothing to the cooling of the machine, yet costs about twice as much as a metal case. Considering you like the case black, who's to know it's not a metal case without lifting it?

Aluminum cases are for show because generally they can be finished nicer than steel. The contribute just as much towards cooling as steel does, if not more, because you may notice that most cheap heatsinks are silver and aluminium, Zalman sometimes make heatsinks with both copper and aluminium in it.

I would buy an aluminium case simply because it was lighter and I don't think they cost twice as much all the time, you often get more features for your money such as removable motherboard tray which makes like a lot easier when building the computer.

  7. Their business models are out of date they need to modernize and realize by going after the common man it will not help them in the long run.

I don't doubt that, but I was suprised when I found out that that was the law. It does show how long the various agencies and associations have had to get there act together.

  8. Most TV licensing has a clause the says that you are stealing what you download if you keep it after a certain number of days.

This came in after recordable VHS became popular and the production houses thought it would be the end of people buying videos from them.

Obviously not many people cared about this as the swapping of the data was limited, but now that it is easy things are starting to hot up as we have seen.

  9. Thin client systems allow you to remotly connect to a server which then acts like a workstation for you. You can do as much on a thin client system as on a desktop system. It will be the active directory policies that will stop you doing things, not the type of system you are on.

  10. They monitor the hell out of you... Plus we dont even have desktop computers where we can remain anonymous... We use thin clients so every thing can be traced back to us because of our remote desktop accounts.

You obviously don't have much knowledge of active directory and running a network. Desktop are no safer than Thin Clients.

  11. Problem with the educational editions is a lot of them are only a license for a couple of years which makes it very annoying.

You just have to hope they bring out a new version in that time.

  12. We don't have any external IPs that are 192.168.x.x because they wouldn't work. 192.168.x.x is a private network address which is non-routerable.

Also to clear things up 172.201.110.48 is a public IP, the private range is 172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255 and so he is outside of this.[/url]

I can get that for £316, do you think thats a pretty good deal?

  14. 53 has the best pose I think but the right side or your face is a tad on the dark side.

13 and 16 have got too much of an evil grin.

    28 is pretty good.

    41 is you being silly.

45 isn't bad, but for the hand.

67 is probably your other alternative.

81 doesn't show the real you.

  15. I just downloaded wireshark and it looks and works just like ethereal.

Thats because it is almost exactly the same as ethereal, they had to change he name because the project leader left his job and the company he used to work for owned the rights to the ethereal name.
