  1. Warez is software that you don't legal own therefore arn't allowed to use it or have it. It doesn't matter how its distributed, over P2P/FTP/Person to Person. Its still warez.

Whether the releases passwords the rar or whatever it is coming is, is up to the release group. As I said earlier, just have a look at the .nfo usually to find out about what it is.

And remember, Winners don't do warez!

  2. I don't want just anyone getting ahold of them.

Why don't you want people getting a hold of them? You don't need to password them unless they contact personal information (eg. finacial details) or would be really worth something to somebody else to want to steal them.

I think you thought it would look cool if you passworded everything and now your living to regret it, ooh the irony.

If you going to dictionary attack it/brute force it lets hope you chose a short word from a dictionary. Otherwise your going to be there for a long time.

  3. Should be more careful then next time. I mean, do you really need to password your files? No, and if you did, you wouldn't use WinRAR to password protect them you would use something like TrueCrypt.

I thought his original post could have be true or for warez. All I can say is look at the .nfo

  4. It's in .rar format, which is like .zip. But instead of compressing it, it is only being used as a container.

"How do I download the DVD?

Click the download link, then click the torrent file link. This requires a BitTorrent client. There are several available, or click the Easy Downloader link and a client will be provided for you.

What do I do with this .RAR file?

Extract the files using a tool like Winrar (shareware), 7-Zip (open source), or UnRarX (mac).

Can I watch the DVD on my computer / I don’t have a DVD burner

The DVD can be viewed in VLC by selecting File > Open Directory and pointing to the folder you extracted the RAR file to.

How can I get the most out of the DVD?

For maximum enjoyment we recommend burning to DVD and watching on a big screen with multiple geeks and lots of snacks and caffinated beverages.

Where are these Easter eggs you speak of?

I would tell you, but I’m under NDA.

    From the news posting.

To burn it, you should be able to put the files on one dics (no folder, unless when you unpack it, it has some. so in the root of the disc) and then burn. Then place in your DVD player and play.

I can't say for definite as us Brits are having problem downloading. So all I ask is if you are seeding then you add the UK tracker to your torrent. Details can be found here: http://hak5.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1724

    Many Thanks.

  5. Ok, well its fairly well known at the moment on IRC that the Brits are getting absolutely crap download speeds off the torrent for the DVD. We're talking averaging 25KBps max. Personally I am only just approaching 50% complete after 24 hours of solid downloading.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what could be going on here (its not our ISPs throttling torrent traffic or anything like that because other torrents max my connection out easily.)

I might be able to get something sorted but I can't until I finish the torrent which looks like it could be another 24 hours.

I think it might be an Anti-British Tracker.

Not too bad, but could be much better.

Nice 8-port Gigabit Switch, although it really should be in my server wardrobe.

Original Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard (now 8 years old)(I split tea over my nice new one knackering it).

Two Generic 300W PSUs, DVD-ROM and Joystick under Creative Subwoofer.

Too many wires, death by EMI.

  7. epending on how the filter is setup there is a way to do it by modifying the arp cache by setting the gateway's IP to it's true MAC address, because some filters use ARP Cache Poisoning for filtering.

I don't think your'll find any filtering software uses an ARP Cache Poisoning attack. They cause large amount of problem if you were to run multiple ones on a network.

Anyway the point of the ACP attack is that the attacker changes the ARP Cache, so even if you had set it to the gateway's true IP and Mac, which would already be in there from when the machine first came on the network, the attack would simply change it.

  8. how do i make a proxy and wouldnt the school be abled to find out what computer the filters were taken of from??

Well i've suggested a program, so you need to now go and look at it, read about it. I've also explained in that how it works with a simple webserver.

The second question I don't even understand what you are asking.

  9. ye u gt a problem

No, i think your the one thats got the problem.

People will help people even with little knowledge of computers, if they are polite, don't insult the regulars and when the ask questions, they think about what they want to find out and then right their question clearly and in good english so that people can understand it.

  10. Yeah, I like dl.tv and watch it every episode, but I still like the hak.5 content better. Not to mention that somehow hak.5 is better at solving the network issues than dl.tv, though that might be viewerbase related.

Hak.5 provides different content than dl.tv so they arn't in direct compitition. They both fill their areas very well.

As for netowrk issues, Hak.5 doesn't stream their media live while filming and editing out to thousands of people every tuesday and thurdsay at the exact specified time.
