  1. Yes but with slight variations with different words and spellings.
  2. Finally the free PC that just works? Linux + printed hardware = one laptop per child?
  3. At our school they have 128 bit WEP on the wireless and on the wired a proxy that you have to connect to that checks the MAC address of the local machine against a list. Not that its hard to get past or anything. There were some people that had brought the network to it's knees a few years ago and they would prefer not to have to relive that scenario. As for your question, in most states it is the same as trespassing or breaking and entry. Unless it is unencrypted wireless. Then it fades into a legal gray zone unless there are hard laws against it. To be safe and to keep your ass in school don't do anything that will draw attention. If you don't get caught then more power to you.
  4. I bet any devoted fan here on the forums would be happy to help Paul out with the show. XD Props to you man for making it all work.
  5. Døds kult. Hvor er du fra? Vi kan snakke mer i en PM.
  6. Can anyone here speak Norweigan, Sweedish, or Danish?
  7. Nei. Jeg snakker bare Norsk, Dansk, Svensk, og Engelsk. Er det noen her som snakker Norsk? Det hadde veart dods kult.
  8. Thanks guys. Right now I have overclocked it 1 gigahertz with no stability loss. That is up from the stock 2.13. I love core 2. I have the Asus software running on my third moniter constantly which shows everything from the fan speeds to the mobo temp to the core clock. When I play F.E.A.R. or encode Divx the temperature generally climbs to about 62-63 which as Cooper said is well within acceptable boundaries. Mind you that it was running at 35 under full load when it was out of the box. Thanks for the help guys. I appreciate it.
  9. I have a question here about the Temperature Threshold of the Conroe line of Intel Core 2 chips. I have read various places that the chips threshold before damage is done is ~56 C. Other places I have read that as high as 80 C is acceptable. So what do you think the threshold is before any damage is done? In case you were wondering I was overclocking a little and now my proc (core 2 duo) idles at ~60 C. Is that an appropriate temperature or am I risking frying my CPU? Now I realize that overclocking with a stock cooler is bad practice but that is all I have now. Christmas is tomorrow so I asked for a Zalman 9500. It should cut the heat by ~18 C. I can push the chip further as I have already done.It can go 1.5 gigahertz over the stock clock fine without any stability problems but it is just that damn heat that will eventually be the end of it. :|
  10. That is pretty stupid. Almost as bad as cleaning your computer with water instead of canned air. I just reisntalled windows and added a linux partition for ubuntu to live on. Problem solved I geuss? Now I need to torrent half a terrabyte of data. :p
  11. Yea. It is sitting next to my Tesla Coil. I use it to fry CDs.
  12. See thats what I thought at first. So I whipped out my spares which are brand new fresh out of a hermatically sealed bag. Sticking a drive in another box which runs Linux does not work either. It won't mount the partitions. That was using Mandriva and Knoppix. manually mounting them fails too.
  13. It means that Linux would not boot because it could not find the Linux partition on the CD for some reason. My guess is that Core 2 is not supported yet. Mounting the partitions is out of the question with the very limited shell that it dropped me into. The only reason that I am using Windows on that machine is because it is my gaming rig. I have other computers that I work on and they all run a flavor of Linux. Not only did windows break itself but it also managed to break itself across 3 disks and 5 partitions.
  14. So I updated windows and it asked me to reboot. -It then said that NTDLR was missing. -I booted into the recovery console from an XP disk and used the command chkdsk /p to check for my disks and locate errors. That failed to I used -BOOTCFG /scan to scan for my partitions and repair the boot.ini. It found no windows partitions either time. -I restarted and booted into the CD again but this time choosing to install windows. -At the partition manager screen I see my 3 disks and all my partitions and they all say "unknown partition" except for one which is labeled as "my stuff" -All the disks are the same size even though I have a 150 gig and 2 300 gig disks -All the partitions are there but they are all the same size and show the same amount of free space -I tried booting from a live cd but it failed. That included Knoppix, Morphix, Ubuntu, Mandriva, and Knoppix STD. So my question here is what the fuck happened and how do I get my shit back without breaking anything or loosing any thing. My system specs. -Asus P5B-E -Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 -1 gig Corsair (2 x 512)
  15. Hehe careless223 is a 12 year old girl who lives in Orlando and is lookign for an adult "friend" on myspace. Hope that helps XD.
  16. Yes I realize that you can get almost anything off myspace but the problem is that I don't have a myspace and ime not 18 even. Meh. It’s just annoying that someone can do that. But hey that’s what the internet is for right?
  17. At our school they use a program called Synchron Eyes. You can disable it by going into the program files directory and changing a config file. If you open it in notepad you can change the start and end IP and other stuff. You can't make it spy on your fellow peers but it will keep the big bad teacher from seeing that you are surfing Hack.5 when you should be researching that Geography project.
  18. Today someone managed to grab all my personal info on Google by googling my name somehow. It totally blew me away that this was possible as I the person only knew my name and managed to get my address that I lived at in another country, my birthplace, my current school, and many other things. Its nothing that I mind anyone having as it isn’t really worth anything but it bothered me. So does anyone know how they did this and does anyone have any other cool Google tricks? Also I never posted this information on the internet and I am aware that there is a possibility that maybe a friend did. (that’s how these things get posted anyways right?)
  19. I can't see the image either. :? Yes it was jumperable with a miniature jumper.
  20. Did you even read the post? You do not need to have your CPU fan plugged in for your PC to turn on or work. Unplug it. Seriously just try it. See? It still works. You now run the risk of having your CPU core melt. Congrats! :D Can anyone else who is not a total tard answer this please? (yes I know google is yor friend. been there done that)
  21. A few days ago I tried to jumper the CPU fan cable on a old Dell mobo. I put it in a new case and no longer could use the stock fan nor did I need it. It shorted and fried the board rendering it useless. So I heard somewhere a while ago that fans connected directly to the motherboard have no negative end, they just connect to the ground. Is this true? If the above statement is true does Dell wire their boards differently to have the negative lead back on the board? Thanks all and peace to The Broken crew.
  22. Sounds like social engineering and forced entery to me.
