  1. Hi!

Can somebody recommend a free or inexpensive monitoring software.  My client wants to monitor all internet activity in his house 4 macs and 3 pc.  I was looking at this:

    hxxp: www. spectorsoft. com/products/Spector_Macintosh/entry. asp?affil=2094

    Any other ideas?

    Thank you!

may I asked why you hxxp-ed the url? It's not like it bad...? Is it?

just becuase this is hak5, doesn't mean you need to hxxp

    dude... http://forums.hak5.org/index.php/topic,7174.0.html
  2. Thats funny seeing as im banned from all the computers for 2 years..... and i didnt want to screw anything up...... i was just messing around.... so .... thanks for the tid bit knowledge you guys but my admin/it is a fat old lady willing to do anything for a cupcake..... i got this

    wow... just wow...

any respect I might have had for you just went up in a puff of magic smoke... you are now on the same level as K1u maybe even lower

oh, so you were already banned?  well then that's a case for expulsion.
you should e-mail the admin manuel?
  3. in the US they can have you arrested for terrorism now... good luck what that.

Remember anything you say can be used against you, and anything you don't WILL be used against you

  4. Windows problem, backup and reinstall.

That's such a noobie thing to say. Almost every OS problem regardless of platform can be fixed without a reinstall.

Talk about using a sledge hammer when a screwdriver will do.

if someone drills a hole in your safe you don't cover it with putty and spray paint it the same color... you buy a fucking new safe.

    Only noobies don't know that

  5. ipv6 is going to suck when it becomes a standard.

it's already hard enough to remember the ip addresses to my favorite BF2 and jedi academy servers

(if they extend the length, it will be hard to remember all 15 ip's

    DNS FTW!
  6. ok, first, i'll give you details about the escene:

There is a page: http://example.com/ip.php, where /ip.php gives the IP from the visitor, i'm not sure if it uses something like a

    $ip = $_SERVER["REMOTE_ADDR"];

for get the IP, but it's probably.

I have to enter to that page and that the page thinks that my ip is something like: 562.3698.2.3 or any imposssible IP, like spoofing ip, but just on web level...i repeat, a friend told me that with proxies and stuff...i can't imaginate how...haha...but i've been loocking for information and try to think in a method...but i can't

    Cya

your friends an idiot... and if you believe him you are too...

next time you see him tell him "proof or GTFO"

  7. No you have it backwards formating and installing is like getting the words best surgeon to replace the area with a skin graft and have it come up with no scars.  trying to fix a problem in windows is like trying to treat a broken arm with an ace bandage.  Yeah it might fix it but the arm will never heal right.

and if it is the router causing explorer.exe to crash you DON'T think windows needs to be reinstalled?!

  8. You're going to need to create you're own packet, and I doubt it would even make it past a router.  If it does you'd never be able to get any of the data back because the web server would send the data back to the fake IP.

yes, that's the point, if a send a SYN with that IP and then i send the correct ACK there the problem will be stopped, but i'm behind a router, but surely there is another way...he says it's easy, he entered with that IP with his firefox...and i saw the logs...he did...

    Cya

HE did it to what with what how?  With what logs where?

Just a little more detail would be good.

And is english your first language

  9. You're going to need to create you're own packet, and I doubt it would even make it past a router.  If it does you'd never be able to get any of the data back because the web server would send the data back to the fake IP.

  10. I have a similar situation. I have an early P4 machine with 256mb of SDRam. I was thinking ubuntu but the GUI seemed to only work with the live CD but not when installed on the hard drive. Should I try another distro or just upgrade the memory which isn't a big deal to do.

There's a neat little program by the name of Wubi (no joking).

It adds your choice of ubuntu on the startup menu. Like duel booting...only billions of times simpler.

If you decide you don't like ubuntu, just boot back into windows and uninstall Wubi like you would a normal program.

It will be gone without a trace.

    Here's the download link:

    Hope this helps.
