  1. yeah it always is :P

Wow, you must be new...  Hak5 never releases a live show in anything that could be considered after.  Maybe in a few weeks to months, but that's not what k1u means.

  2. Hak5 doesn't recommend any laptop (until they start getting paid by one) however the community recommended laptop changes from the use, and monthly.

  3. So what is the method for getting dd-wrt onto the Fonera+ (FON 2201).

I've tried the Fonera hacks but they don't work since the stock firmware is 1.1.0 r2.

I say dd-wrt because according to openwrt they say the ethernet switch isn't working yet in their firmware.

if you get dd-wrt working it's simple to then flash an x-wrt.bin via dd's update script
  4. once you get physical access it's over.  Most people I know keep a IDE/SATA to USB with them (I do) and if you can reboot and get a MITM at what point does it become faster to just pull HD?

  5. Wardriving does not exclude connecting to access points, that like if you're walking down the street and start talking to the person next to you, you're still walking.  Doing something else doesn't change anything else you're doing.

  6. What I see as the problem is people hate giving money as gifts, think of the negative stigma attached to it.  But now that you've asked for help 'building the new set' people are happy to help.  Next time you need some new equipment, announce it on show and ask for donations for THAT item and see how much you get.

  7. For the first video no USB crap will be done, and if any is done it won't be much at all. Right now we think we are going to do a packet sniffing explanation and tutorial with Cain/Ethereal/Wireshark in a few OS's... sound decent?
I've seen it, but what I haven't seen is a good video explanation of the filters in wireshark, and how to filter to get exactly what you want, and ONLY what you want.
  8. No it's a valid question, there's a big difference between the encoding an .mp3 file uses and the encoding that you're run-of-the-mill cd player uses.  The mp3 will give you a smaller size (sometimes lower quality) but will not play on all CD players out there...

wait no I mean OMGWTFBBQ N00B everyone knows that how can you be so stuped!!!111
