  1. Ok, so here's the deal: Got my Fonera+ 2101C a couple of weeks back, I've been wating until I had a spare hour or so to have a go at flashing the little fellow and putting Jasager on him. I've been trying to follow this blog post here: http://excid3.betaserver.org/projects/open...n-the-fon-plus/ Unfortunately I didn't get very far :( I've tried to use Freifunk to install the firmware, but I keep getting the following error: I know what it means, I just haven't got a clue how to fix it - I've done a search here but can't find anything (if I've missed something obvious I apologise) and a search of Google doesn't throw up much that seems to help either. I'd be grateful if anybody could offer any suggestions. Thanks.
  2. All pretty simple really. Just received my nice shiny new Samsung NC10, with a 160Gb HDD, and I'm planning on truple booting the following: - Ubuntu 8.10 - Windows XP Home - Back|Track 3 What I can't decide is what partitioning scheme to apply. Once the OS's are installed I'll format the remainder of the disk into a couple of NTFS partitions for different sets of data which can be accessed from any OS. Any suggestions on the best scheme, particularly with regards to the sizes for each OS, would be gratefully received. Thanks :)
  3. The mouse 'button' on the Samsung sort of rocks (I mean that literally :D). Press the left end and you get a left mouse click, I'll let you guess what happens if you press the right end :D
  4. Have a look at the Samsung NC10 (that's the model that I'll be getting in the next month or so). it's got 1Gb RAM, the same processor as the Acer, a 160Gb drive, bluetooth built-in, and it's got a 6-cell battery for much longer battery life. The keyboard (IMHO) is better than the Acer, I do a lot of typing and it seems to feel really good under the fingers. The only real downside I've found so far is that the track pad is a little small. Keep in mind though that I don't own one yet, these are just my impressions from the ones that I've tried out in stores.
  5. You could try: http://www.hackthissite.org That may be the site you're looking for.
  6. Probably better answered here: http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11061&hl= In the other post you made, which is probably the one that's in the right section - no need to double post stuff really.

  8. My Fon+ turned up today - told the missus what it was and she misheard me, couldn't work out why she was laughing until I realised that she thought I'd said 'Laugh On Error' :D
  9. The fonera+ is available from dabs.com - don't know if they ship to Australia if they don't give me a shout and I'll see if I can get hold of one that I can post out to you - don't know what the postage is going to be though
  10. You might want to check the licensing conditions for nessus before including it, they removed it from BackTRack because it couldn't be freely distributed under the current nessus licence.
  11. The cat's really gonna love this :D
  12. That was the original reason I bought it, I think I'm going to get the Samsung NC10 now (which has BlueTooth built in) so I might have to find another project for it. Perhaps I could find a way to build it into a Fon armed with Jasager, I could get a bit of blue snarfing action going whilst I'm getting my MITM on :D
  13. What format does the date / time get output as if you just push it out as the contents of a text file? If you've got periods, colons, slashes, whatever, in there as a delimiter then the process will fail because they're not valid in file names. Better to parse the date / time as part of your .bat script, strip out the numbers and create the file name from them in the format yyyymmddhhmm. So, a date / time of: 04/12/08 19:05 (that's December 4th by the way, I'm in the UK ;) ) Would become: 200812041905
  14. Ah yes, the specs :) http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5890441/Site...0m/Product.html Not that powerful, but plenty for what I'll end up using it for I would imagine :)
  15. Well.....one of them..... It's a USB bluetooth dongle, that's a standard size GSM SIM that's sat next to it :)
  16. Anything we can do about that nasty wide code box?
  17. Fonera+ on order. Reading through the Jasager tutorials. Combing the web for plastic pineapples. Studying for the EnCe exam. Getting ready to purchase a new netbook. Hacking together a re-mastered Linux live CD. Building virtual networks to hack in VMWare. Waiting to receive my new USB bluetooth adaptor (sticks out about 7mm from the laptop). Show 4x14 online now. Drinking very smooth (but potent smelling) vodka, and plenty of it*. These are just a few of the things that are destined to brighten up my days (and consume hours of my time) in the near future. How about you guys? What geeky, techy, hackerish, type things are going to be floating your boats over the next few weeks? * I know that alcohol isn't really 'techy', but what Hacker doesn't enjoy the good stuff eh? :D
  18. Nice one, thanks :) All I have to do now is get one on order and it's Fon Fon Fon :D
  19. Please forgive a slightly confused n00b, and feel ree to spank or apply 'n00b-lube' as the mood takes you, but..... .....am I right in thinking that Jasager can be made to work correctly on the Fon+ and that there's a (relatively) simple tutorial available that describes how it's done? Thanks :)
  20. Morning All (or at least, Morning to those of you for who it is morning :D). Just started looking for a fun little Fon to hack about - there's a couple on eBay, but not much else by the looks of it. Anybody in the UK got any useful intel on where I can pick one up? Thanks :)
  21. Only got a 16Gb SSD though, compared to the NC10 - and it's comparisons between NC10 and AAO that I'm after ;) Thanks though :)
  22. Hey Guys, I'm looking into netbooks at the moment, and have narrowed my choices down to the Samsung NC10 and the Acer Aspire One. I know Darren's pleased with his Acer, and presumably Snubs us loving the pink version too (?), but I'm kind of leaning towards the Samsung and was wondering if anybody else had one and if so what they thought of it. I'm heading in that direction because the keyboard's supposed to be pretty good, it's got bluetooth built in, and the screen's larger, so thoughts on those particularly would be welcome. I'd be especially grateful to hear from anybody that's tried both. Thanks :)
