  1. I've dropped my EeePC 701 off my deck or tripped over the wire and pulled it off the desk a couple times and it still works.. wait does it count as working if it's booting Windows?? ;)
  2. I have many of the same things , alfa wireless, a 10 dbi antenna from china :) straight off ebay.. a different lock pick set. I also have a 4 port hub and cables just in case.. now my Fon, either my HP laptop or the Eeepc 701
  3. by running ettercap against the Fons ipaddress shouldn't you be able to see everything that is going through the fon? (as in usernames and passwords) I've only used ettercap a couple times and it's been a while, I may try this tonight if I have time

  5. Atlanta, GA area here
  6. my first thought is that you'd have to replace the one light on it with 8 LEDs or more depending on how many segments you wanted it split into. You may also have to run one of the software packages that display settings of your system, this may be easier to write an "addon" that will control the LEDs per how much drive space you have used. (I have one of the software packages on my system at home but the name escapes me right this moment) Cool idea ..
  7. I'd like to put my F*n into and old gameboy, and then have the screen actually show a list of who is connected ;)
  8. I'll try this on my EeePC tonight, I also have the Alfa network card and love it
  9. Hi, I'm Curbob I've been in the tech industry now for 15 years, I've worked for many good, bad and strange companies, working on SANS, Network Administration, Game tester for Gears of War and have now worked my way into programming. I'm on the board of Directors for CarolinaCon, a hacker convention in North Carolina every year, this will be our 5th year and it's getting bigger and better each year. I also enjoy other hacker Con's like Phreaknic, Outerz0ne and Defcon, to name a couple. My intrest in everything tech is what brings me here and it's great to be part of this community.
  10. I was also testing some of this, but I was trying to have my laptop wireless connected to AP and then the F*n hardwired to my ethernet, passing through laptop to the internet, but truthfully your setup would be better. But if the F*n is wired via ethernet I don't need to attach my second wireless card. I'll have to check out your docs tomorrow, thanks for your time, all of ya!
  11. I have the EeePC 701 and I think the default card is an Atheros
  12. I ordered mine last week (US) and got it Saturday (not the + version) and it's still the correct software version
  13. I'll try these things when I get home.. I had changed the network setting from static to DHCP and the setting from bridge to none (both on same network page) I also think the DNS IP was wrong. Yeh I was screwin with things, playin with getting my laptop to share it's real wifi connection over the ethernet connection to the Fon
  14. are the invites still good? If so, can someone send me one, I'd like to buy a couple extras ;)
  15. after reading through some other post and the info about bricked Fon's I can probably go back to Step 11 and reFlash the Fon, since this doesn't connect with me supplying the ip address but just through which ever interface i'm using
  16. While messing around with trying to get ICS working or the Fon to access the internet through my laptop, I set the Fon to DHCP and now I have no idea what the ip address is for settings. I tried the ip addy that was static and listed as a "if something happens" in settings, but I think something else also happened because when I connect to the fon now, I get an ip address of 169.147.x.x (think it is), which reminds me of when windows can not get an address it just throws this ip range in.. I've tried things like connecting 2 devices to the fon and trying to tracert through it to see the IP, IP scanning is happening at home while I'm at work trying to find it.. If you have any ideas, let me know and I'll try once I get home. I don't want to buy another but if I have to, I will ;(
  17. Got my fon yesterday and all is working after this hack, but just FYI for others, a couple things I noticed.. Step 9: Patch the kernel, reboot, Step 10: Reconnect to MyPlace.. after the reboot in step 9 i had to redo step 8 because the reboot deleted the new files in the tmp directory during Step 14: Install webif (make sure you're in the tmp directory) the webif install tried to do a get out to the net, since it wasn't actually connected to the web, these wgets didn't work, but webif was still installed correctly (like I said all seems to be working correctly) After Step 18: Install Jasager and reboot, For some reason I couldn't telnet to 192.168.1.1 but noticed in the screen prints Darren was using putty again, so I tried to SSH and was able to ssh in.
