  1. I should have put a direct link to the talk notes, but there are a few slides that have info on such a procedure.
  2. My resolution is to not have one, and instead, do the shit that needs to be done and change the shit that needs to be changed NOW.
  3. Way back in season 3, episode 8, Darren talked to David Hulton aka H1kari about his work on intercepting and cracking GSM traffic... Well, I can't seem to find his name anywhere, implying he might not have been involved in this, but GSM cracking has been PoCed. http://hackaday.com/2009/12/30/gsm-cracked/ http://reflextor.com/trac/a51
  4. http://clonezilla.org/ For supported filesystems, only used blocks are cloned, so it should work.

    yahoo email?

That's what happens when you don't read the man pages...
  6. I say put something less resource heavy and graphically pretty. Something like Puppy Linux, DSL, etc. From my google searches, it looks like everybody agrees. Ubuntu would most likely run, but you'd probably be happier with Windows CE.
  7. Yes, I would take steps to overthrow the government if they did something like this, or anything that would take away or change any of the rights that I, as well as every other living person, should be entitled to. I live in the USA, and (as far as I know...), something like this is not going on. My original plan was to move somewhere else, where people aren't such idiots, where people value education (a free one at that), where obesity IS NOT A DISEASE, etc, etc, but I've changed my mind, because that's like running away from your problems... I want to stay here and attempt to make as much positive change as possible. So, yes, I might end up in the orgy of lies, scandals, and two-facing they call politics.
  8. I wonder if they really think this will work... I mean, it's the 21st fuckin century! Do they really think the pedo bears are going to be hindered by this idiotic idea of theirs? I don't think so... As we all already know, those who need to get around this will. People can stop hoping for them to do this correctly, because they will not, and never can. And they HAVE to show some kind of success with the damn thing, so they'll overplay any "take downs" they do, and it will be believed by the masses that they are making progress. +1 for mass anarchy +1 for civil war +1 for revolution +1 for enlisting our Chinese friends to take down the filters, government, and any others associated
  9. Tutorials can be found here: http://hak5.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14179
  10. It wold be easier to help if you told us exactly what wasn't working, what different things you've tried, what errors you get, etc. And, yes, I have had some troubles with Kon-Boot on Windows 7 on others' computers, although it works fine on my machine.
  11. The problem isn't access, I was just confused as to why I couldn't ping addresses to confirm the connection was working. I can still access the internet using FF, use apt-get, etc. I just cannot ping addresses. I'll talk to the Network Admin, but like you said digip, it seems like they're filtering ICMP requests.
  12. Apologies for the double post, but I was wondering how useful you all think the MCAS and MOS would be?
  13. It seems as if no systems on the network can ping any address that's not local. This was not the case last time, if I remember correctly. The addresses are what were given by the DHCP server. This is a school network and I'm not exactly sure how it all works. This is fine for now though, because it's only serving as a tool to help other students, as well as myself, learn Linux, programming, networking, etc. When I set the OpenDNS servers as the nameservers, the domain names weren't even resolved, whereas they were with the previous setup, I just didn't receive any packets back.
  14. I've got an Ubuntu 9.10 server on a network. The network has DNS and DHCP, and to access anything outside, going through an HTTP proxy is required. I've setup a static IP and all is fine locally, except I can't resolve any domain names from the server, not even the DHCP server. With dhclient, I can access the web through firefox (setup to use the proxy server for all connections), but I still cannot ping any domain names. I can use the "host" command and find out info about domains, but I can't ping the domain name nor the IP that it resolves to. If anybody has any idea of what could be wrong, or how I could troubleshoot the problem, please let me know. /etc/networking/interfaces auto lo auto eth0 iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet static address 10.96.9.250 netmask 255.255.255.0 network 10.96.9.0 broadcast 10.96.9.255 gateway 10.96.9.6 /etv/resolv.conf (setup by dhclient) domain ccsd.net search ccsd.net nameserver 10.49.16.34 nameserver 10.49.16.35
  15. Haven't watched very many of them, but I'm sure somebody will benefit from them. http://h30187.www3.hp.com/index.jsp
  16. I turned 17 in October. I've been into computers since I was about 13. I know much more than the normal computer "user" as well as the ones that think they're good with computers. I'm looking to get a long-term (up to 3 years) job dealing with computers. I took the A+ 2009 practice exams and missed maybe a total of 7 out of all of them... So I could probably pass the tests now. After A+, I'll probably get N+. I'm also in my Junior year at a career and tech school majoring in Digital Home Technology Integration and we will be taking the DHTI+ cert exams by the end of this year I think. I have essentially no job experience with IT. Should I bother to get the A+ cert now, or wait till later, when sparing the money won't matter so much? Would employers like the fact that I'm only 17 and certed with A+? Or are they still going to turn me down because I'm < 18? Also, if anyone has taken the A+ 2009 cert, what material, if any, did you use to prepare for it? Because I feel I should still formally learn the stuff.

  18. IN OTHER NEWS!... Google "opt-out" feature guarantees to protect privacy
  19. A CD won't do you much good, because they're only 700 Mb. You could try a DVD, i guess. grubinst.exe supports writing the boot sectors to an image, but if that doesn't work, I know PowerISO supports writing a boot record.
  20. I'm almost certain it's a Linux distro called Novell Netware, because the network logins are through the Novell client.
  21. I have no clue how hard it is to setup a permanent reservation, I'm just gonna take what he gave me and run with it. With the static IP, I think I'll be good for now. Like I said, I'll learn more about networking and see what I can do with that, if anything. And, MS shop? Not to sure I know that you mean, unless you're asking if it's mainly Microsoft machines? I think we've got about an even number of XP machines and OS X machines.
