Coreyja: That wouldn't be a problem with most drives but my question is why?
What I did for organizing is push all these files to /multiboot/(boot file). That way I have the minimal amount of clutter in my 16 Gig flash drive

Got BT3 and 4 working. Hiren's boot cd doesnt like me though. Anyone got this going?
And if anyone understand this http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8371 please let me know :)
Hurtcake: I got Hiren's Happy. Using v9.7
Just extracted it to my folder and used:
title Start Hiren's BootCDfind --set-root /multiboot/hirens/HBCD/boot.gz
map --mem /multiboot/hirens/HBCD/boot.gz (fd0)
map --hook
chainloader (fd0)+1
rootnoverify (fd0)
map --floppies=1
boot
Remember to change to the correct directory (mine is /multiboot/hirens/HBCD)

I just used the parameters in the shownotes.
Downloaded BT 4 beta, and extracted the folders "boot" and "bt4" with winrar. Renamed "boot" to "bootbt4" and placed them both on the usb.
title BackTrack 4 BETA
root (hd0,0)
kernel /bootbt4/vmlinuz vga=0x317 ramdisk_size=6666 root=/dev/ram0 rw quiet
initrd=/bootbt4/initrd.gz
boot
I did that to except I used the Backtrack 4 Pre Final.

Hurtcake: Can you tell us what your BT4 Grub lines are and the steps you used to get it working?
Thanks

Alright I got DBAN working. I had to rename the .IMA file to .IMG and push the memdisk kernal from TRK to the DBAN folder but that it worked.
BUT
- Im still stuck with the /dev/ram0 error with BTpf4
- I dont know where to find the memtest86 img file
- OphCrack is upset about the location of the tables. (currently in /multiboot/OphCrack/Tables/XP and Vista subfolders.)
- And I dont know how to call TRK from Grub
Let me know what worked for you guys.
My problem with Ophcrack is that the launch.sh that starts up only looks for tables in the root directory. But even after moving them the launch.sh fails :( it wines after it opens ophcrack complaining about the conversion from and to unicode.

Hurtcake: Did you use the floppy version of Kon and the grub settings in the show notes?
title Kon-Boot-testmap --mem /FD0-konboot-v1.1-2in1.img (fd0)
map --hook
chainloader (fd0)+1
map (hd1) (hd0)
map --hook
rootnoverify (fd0)
Doing that for me and everything work just fine.

BTpf4 gives me an error and dumps me to busybox
ALERT! /dev/ram0 does not exist.
-
how do you call trk from grub?
-
alright How do you get memtest or DBAN setup on the usb?
-
U3 has nothing to do with USB booting.
Its a issue of your motherboard BIOS being able to boot off of USB Drives. (most modern systems can)

In the episode he uses a battery pack with 4 AA batteries in a Radio Shack battery holder.

The ADD SSID TO LIST button. on the jasager page
-
I understand the log but when I add a ssid to the list where can i see it?
-
killall hostapd worked for me. but is there a way to list all the SSID's the fon is transmitting?
Also I tried connecting a xp machine wirelessly and the fon did not issue the laptop an ip address.
-
also how did you fit nmap on the fon? when i try to add it it says... I have 288 k and I need 2214 k
all I have added is nano.
-
I dont seem to be able to get karma working.
I have karma brought up and have a Xp making probe requests (another machine with airodump-ng shows the probes)
But the xp machine does not connect nor does the added ssid "test" doesnt show up.
When I try to connect to the fons' "default" SSID my xp and vista machines cannot connect to it, they show strong signal strength but when connecting say that this signal is out of range. Wtf
-
Alright I got it working... Must have been the flasher... EasyFlash.
tried it with FonFlash and it worked (took forever 20 mins)
but it worked.
-
Just brainstorming to the ether here:
The thing is I had jasager beta firmware running on my 2201 without issue. but the piranha dosen't seem to work, I dont see that wireless ssid.
Has anyone else tried this firmware on the 2201?
@Orange
The reason I was thinking of building it from OWRT 8.09 is that I could then find what breaks the router and be able to go back and find how to fix it.
-
Well it loads without issue on my 2201 but have the issue that I cannot get an Ip address.
Is piranha compiled for the fon and not Fon+? I had the same issue when I tired loading the fon org. firmware on my 2201.
What is the base for piranha? can I load a openwrt and add the package reps from piranha to add the necessary packages and patches?
-
ill be loading it tommow and Ill let you know how it goes.

Is it possible to use EasyFlash on this?
