The AP is going to be set up in the Bahamas, so I'm not sure if they have any rules related to how many dBi you can put through, or if they follow British laws, but I'll check with my client. I think I might just go ahead and order a PowerStation 5 AP and stick it on the roof of one of the buildings, but I'll test it in the states first before I fly down and install it.

My broadcast area is the coast, and buildings surrounding the AP, so if the panel antenna only handles the beach, that is fine since they already have an AP that covers the 4 villas. It's just so that guests can browse the web on the beach using their own computers, but they don't own the beach, so i can't stick a repeater or anything on the beach. The Powerstation APs look pretty promising, but I'm curious if line of sight may be an issue, which i'm hoping it isn't. Getting it higher off the ground isn't much of a problem, but i would rather keep it closer to the rooftop in case it needs servicing.

I have a client that wants to broadcast wifi on a beach that is a bit under a mile away. He said that there are some trees blocking the line of sight to the beach, so the antenna is going to be at least two stories off the ground. My plan was to order a 15dBi omnidirectional antenna, hook it up to an amplifier, and then connect it to a wireless access point. My question is will I even need an amplifier, and if so, how much power would I need to put through it. Do you know of any resources or formulas used to calculate how much antenna or power i need? I just grab a sheet of paper and draw it, or I'll build a GUI in visual studio that does nothing. I heard that you could also use Visio to build a GUI, but I haven't tried it personally. Regardless of what OS you're building your GUI for, it's best to sketch it out on paper so you don't forget any details.

If you want AV, get NOD32. It's 40 bucks for a one year subscription, and it does antivirus, anti spyware, and anti malware, whitout bloat, nagging, and false positives. It just runs in the background and doesnt pop up unless you get something. All of my clients that use it never have to call me up about getting any viruses, so if you're too lazy to be cautious on the internet, it's something to try out.

That's what I did. i put a switch in to swap between the two power sources. If i flick it fast enough, it doesn't even turn off on me. What i did was keep all the ground wires connected, then i had a switch that had battery on the left, wall wart on the right, and the center pin was to the 5v line on the board.

my first pc was one that my cousin gave me when i was like 8. it was running Norton Commander, and had prince of persia and commander keen on it.

just extract the contents of the package, and move the files over manually. I did that with my custom build of airodump-ng and it worked out fine. You won't get the message complaining that you're out of space. alternatively, you could solder in an SD card and use that as swap space, partition it for storage, or whatever. EDIT: also, you can use 'df -h' in the command line without quotes to show how much storage space you have.

Provided that you get permission, I wouldn't do this to all websites, but just the ones that they shouldn't be on, such as facebook, twitter, myspace, etc. I would get fucking pissed if I was trying to work, and all the sites I was using for work was switched over to something else.
