Ever since i plugged in my mic cord into the mic jack of the pc, the audio software won't play through or regognize the imput like it usually does. Ive tried updating drivers and system restore, but nothing works. My worst fear is that my audio chip is fried. But hopefully someone will be able to help me here. . . Thanks, stlbadger AYUDAR! Deveant Posted December 7, 2007 Share Posted December 7, 2007 i know this is gonna sound stupid, but its always needed to be asked n doubled checked, open up ur audio panel, make sure its not muted, make sure the volume is at a suitable level, make sure it output device is correct, same for the input. Make sure u have ur jacks pluged in right. If thats all checked then try this; open up Device Manager, and tell it to remove the Audio Device, and agree to it deleting the drivers (if this isnt an option, once the device is removed, uninstall the drivers manualy). Back in Device Manager, scan for new Devices, then re-install the drivers of the Manufactures Disk. Reboot, and check if it works. If ur scared u have fried the Device, boot up ur fav Linux Live CD, and check if u can get sound outta that, if u can, ur issue lies wif ur OS, if not, ur back to square one, since the Live Cd may not have ur driver either ;) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
digip Posted December 7, 2007 Share Posted December 7, 2007 If it's not playing back audio any more, make sure you have the speaker cord in the right jack on the soundcard. http://www.twistedpairrecords.com/digip/soundcard.jpg[/img] Make sure in the recording section you have MIC selected. I have Line in seleted because that is what I am using, but if you need MIC checked, make sure it is selected under the recording options. Most Mic's are not powered, so you will also need to check MIC boost on the ADVANCED tab under the playback controls. If you do not see a section for MIC on your soundcard you nay have it deselected as an option, but these settings should be checked first. Then if things do not work, make sure you have the device installed properly and the correct drivers. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The jack is correct, its the same one i used before it broke. I also plug in the mic cord into the red jack. Also correct. I go to realtek's device manager. Then rebooting and let windows find the device and install the drivers for you. Otherwise, swap out the card with another one(if you have one). I wonder if you somehow damaged the card with the mic.
