VaKo
I think the forums need a little bit of a clean up, and some changes. Below is a list of the changes, mostly adding descriptions to the current forums. The two main changes would be merging "Newbies/New Here?" with "Everything Else", and changing "News" to "News & Debates" The Projects: -USB Hacks - USB Switchblade & Hacksaw discussion and help. -Pandora Timeshifting - Pandora Jar & Timeshifting discussion. Discussion: -Hacks, Mods & Coding - Discuss your hacks, mods or coding here. -Everything Else - Like it says... -Newbies - <merge with everything else> -Questions - Got a problem? Not sure about something? Ask here. -News & Debates - A place to discuss the news. IRC: -#hak5 - IRC discussion and help. The Show: -Releases & Show Notes - Discuss each episode -Suggestions - Want to suggest something for the show? -Polls - Hak.5 Episode Polls -LAN Party - Hak.5 Monthly Lan party discussion Can you think of better descriptions or suggest changes? Is it time to seperate *nix and windows? Should be we have less forums?

That actually kinda makes more sense, but I would leave the newbie section alone, only rename it "n00bs start here" with a few new stickys on how to work the forums and how to ask questions, how to search first ask questions later, etc. I think maybe even move newbies to the top of the list so its the first thing newcomers see where they should start before posting. I also think there should be a way to make them have to read a disclaimer before they can actually see the rest of the forum topics so that when they are done reading it they click a checkbox and submit their acceptance of the forums rules, policies, etc with a little bit of how things work, etc. Even though it is a bit redundant, to make them have to check this before getting to the actual "meat and potatoes" might help cut down on the repeated questions and things that have already been covered in other topics, etc. Just my 2 cents... Shaun
I approve of changing The Projects to The Labs, the current name sounds like those boards are occupied by The Wire-esque drug dealers.
Darren Kitchen
I approve of changing The Projects to The Labs, the current name sounds like those boards are occupied by The Wire-esque drug dealers. The intent is also to fold Dev5 into the labs and open it up, something we'll be spearheading with Hak5Live this summer. As for the newbies, maybe it could be the first board on the list titled "Hak5 Community Welcome Center - Newbies start here" or something. VaKo
OK, for newbies, how about this. Make it a place for stickies such as forum rules/guidelines and frequently asked questions, then merge anything that is left with Everything Else, Rename the whole thing Forum Welcome Center or such and stick it at the top of the forums under its own group? Darren Kitchen
Gets my vote but I still like the "Meet & Greet" thread. Greap place for welcoming Bob the new viewer.
