Sparda
You want to be able to see live pictures/video of people who don't have a camera to capture said pictures/video with?

metatron
You could try and get into a commercial satellite system or better government owned spy satellites. I wish you luck with this venture and I will be happy to point you in the right direction. The needed equipment will set you back a bit. VaKo
This does sound fun, what type of outlay is required? Is it mostly comms gear you need? And are there any live orbital feeds open to the public?

metatron
You need some fairly powerful microwave equipment if we are taking about communicating with most satellites but there are open satellites that amateur radio operators can play around with (none of which can take photos). VaKo
No AMPRNet satellites?
metatron
No AMPRNet satellites? I’m not sure, I never got to heavily into the amateur side of things. I only worked with commercial systems and all the equipment we used was expensive, although I am aware of a large amateur interest in the whole area and some manufactures have produced lower cost equipment targeted at them, so they may have something out there. Shaun
He's asking about watching a live stream of his friend from a satellite on the Internet though.
metatron
He's asking about watching a live stream of his friend from a satellite on the Internet though. True, but he still has the option of trying to get into a company /government network and using their equipment that way (which is harder). I don’t really see him getting anywhere with this idea or any idea that I have mentioned.
deleted
You could technicaly do it through a satellite. Buy on of those internet through satellite kits. There not that popular so the wave will be fairly free. (wel in the uk anyway)
VaKo
He's asking about watching a live stream of his friend from a satellite on the Internet though. Thats where AMPRNet comes in, since its packet based and there are gateways that route over the internet. Theoretically if there was a camera on a amateur satilite which you could access via AMPRNet you might be able to get pictures from it to you home computer. However its very unlikely. Apparently it isn't, because remember, he wants to be able to see pictures/video of people with out using a camera of any sort. Seems a bit like an impossible request to me. silivrenion
You're going to have to use an image capture device of some kind. You're not going to get to use those cool aerial photography photos the government uses -- those are intelligence agencies only. You basically have to go with a camera you buy if you want any kind of feeds online. A good choice is either the Linksys monstrocity or or those Panasonic webcameras that can give you multiple feeds on one webpage. Good luck with finding the right solution for you! :)
