[Sci fi] Novel, Based on Real Technology

Hey, I have been meaning to begin writing a science fiction book, however I want most of my technology I use, to have a basis on real life. Whether things are possible or not. I dont really want to do into far-fetched, rather things that are possible. Like spaceship transport etc.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The technology divide? Neo-Amish community in the near future? How would people relate to technology which is as much a part of life as running water, when they have trouble with what we can do today?

Everything in Startrek is pulled from fact. Case in point we have hypersprays now we just can't get a correct dose yet.

For the movie Minority Report, Speilberg gathered a bunch of futurists to try to

predict technology 50 from then(2002).

And a good quote from Arthur C Clarke..... "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"
